It’s fair to say that Dustin McGowan is due a bit of good fortune but it remains to be seen as to whether the 31-year old can break back into the Toronto Blue Jays’ pitching rotation this season. The former first-round pick is back from his latest injury setback and he has started pitching again in the hope of earning a chance for the Jays this season as long reliever. Neck and shoulder strains suffered earlier in spring training put McGowan’s pre-season plans back a month. However, Toronto manager, John Gibbons, has insisted the seemingly jinxed pitcher is still in the minds of the management, despite spending four of the last five years on the injured list, putting himself in the mix as the league’s most unlucky pitcher. “He’s in the picture. There’s a chance he could make the team in that middle role. But we’ve got to get him on the mound quickly if it’s going to happen,” Gibbons revealed to the MLB betting news. Despite having big hopes going into last year, McGowan once again missed the entire season with foot and shoulder problems sidelining him for the full year. After such a rotten run of luck, many fans betting MLB World Series are expecting McGowan to break down again before the new season starts. Even if he can stay fit, McGowan will then have to battle it out with the likes of Brett Cecil, Jeremy Jeffress, Aaron Loup, Brad Lincoln, and J.A. Happ competing for the final two spots in the pitching rotation. But having the support of his manager will do real wonders for McGowan’s confidence and he’ll be desperately hoping to do enough during the remainder of spring training to prove he is still a very capable option for the Jays to use on the mound. addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fcuzoogle.com%2F2013%2F03%2F07%2Fcan-dustin-mcgowan-figure-for-blue-jays%2F'; addthis_title = 'Can+Dustin+McGowan+figure+for+Blue+Jays%3F'; addthis_pub = '';
