Can the A’s do Better than Daric Barton at First?

Obviously the answer is yes. But the reality is no. Yes there are better first basemen in the Majors but none the A’s can afford. Sure if the A’s went and got Ablert Pujols they would be much better at that position. But let’s face the facts the A’s aren’t going after Pujols. As far as first basemen the A’s can afford Barton is the cream of the crop. Daric Barton is pretty underrated when discussing first basemen. Physically he looks like a third baseman. He stands three to four inches shorter and weighs about twenty pounds less than your typical major league first bagger. Due to his lack of size, Barton, also doesn’t give the A’s the power numbers a normal first baseman gives.
