New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano is changing agents as he nears the biggest decision of his career.
Cano, who can become a free agent at the end of the season, is hiring Creative Artists Agency to replace Scott Boras, according to major league sources.
CAA's baseball clients San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey and right-hander Matt Cain, Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun, Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Roy Halladay and Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones.
Cano, 30, was seeking to join an agency that does not represent any other prominent Yankees, according to one source. He chose CAA in part because of its affiliation with Roc Nation, an entertainment and marketing company founded by Jay-Z, the source said.
Cano's dismissal of Boras first was reported by ESPN's Buster Olney.
