ST. LOUIS - The signed Chipper Jones jersey hangs in Mitchell Boggs' house. The childhood memories will stay with the Cardinals reliever forever.
Jones made his final regular season appearance in St. Louis this weekend before he retires at the end of the season. And lifelong Braves fans such as Boggs will be sad to see him go.
"I was a huge Chipper fan growing up," Boggs said. "He was my favorite player. He broke in when I was 11 years old and they won the World Series in his first year I think in 1995. As far as the Braves go, he's the guy.
"To see this is going to be his last year, I know a lot of Braves fans are really going to enjoy it this year. I'm sure they will hate it that he's gone, but everyone just respects everything he's done and how good he's been for such a long time."
The Cardinals honored Jones during a pregame ceremony before Sunday's series finale against the Braves, with general manager John Mozeliak, form...

The St. Louis Cardinals have played outstanding to start the season despite waiting for several players to return from nagging injuries.
Among those players is first...
ST. LOUIS It was an inning unlike any of the previous 908 thrown by Adam Wainwright in his career.
Highlighting his continued bumpy return after missing the entire 2011 season due to Tommy John surgery, the usually accurate Wainwright suffered one of the most unique and odd innings of his career Saturday night.
In the first inning of the Cardinals' eventual 7-2 loss to the...
The St. Louis Cardinals have recalled right-handed reliever Eduardo Sanchez from Triple-A Memphis and released struggling lefty J.C. Romero.
The 23-year-old Sanchez was 0-2 with a 6.08 ERA in 14 appearances in the minors but did not allow a run in his last five outings. He didn't give up any runs in seven spring training games, with 14 strikeouts in eight innings.

ST. LOUIS - Cardinals manager Mike Matheny thought it was odd when he realized he hadn't seen any of his players walk by his office before the start of their game against the Atlanta Braves Friday night.
Then he realized they had snuck out.
Hoping to catch their skipper at his own game, players hurried out a back door and onto the field in time for the national anthem. Because...
In a 30-minute ceremony, the St. Louis Cardinals retired former manager Tony La Russa's No. 10 jersey on Friday night. More than two dozen people joined La Russa in the pregame celebration at Busch Stadium, where a No. 10 decal and silhouette of retired manager were unveiled on the left-center field wall, MLB.com reported. "Whenever you see 10 out there, it represents...
The St. Louis Cardinals activated first baseman Lance Berkman off the 15-day disabled list, and he was batting fifth Sunday against the Atlanta Braves.
Berkman had been sidelined since April 19 with a strained left calf aggravated chasing a pop fly. Outfielder Shane Robinson, batting .311 with a home run and five RBIs in 23 games, was optioned to Triple-A Memphis.
Right fielder Carlos Beltran did all he could for the St. Louis Cardinals Friday night. Enjoying
his third two-homer night in the last couple of weeks, Beltran added a triple and a double
but the Cardinals fizzled away bases-loaded situations in both the 10th and 11th innings
before succumbing to the Atlanta Braves, 9-7, in 12 innings. Beltran's two-homer game -- he drove...

Bourn went 3 for 6 with two RBIs and two runs...
Now that the Reds’ series victory streak was snapped at the
hands of the Nationals over the weekend that just means that its time to start
a new one, right? Well, they will just have to wait on that, at least in the
traditional sense as they’re on the road for two games at Atlanta. It’s quick
and hopefully fun, just like this preview.
