MLB Injury News:
The St. Louis Cardinals have place center fielder Shane Robinson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder reports MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch. Robinson injured his shoulder while sliding back to first base to avoid a pick-off during Game 1 of the Cardinals' Tuesday double header with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He left the game at the end of the inning and did not play in Game 2 or in Wednesday's game.
Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak believes that Robinson will be ready after the required 15 days, maybe even before. He chose to disable the center fielder, though, so the Cardinals would not have to play a man short for even a short length of time. Said Mozeliak,
"I think the best thing is to give him a couple weeks to get recovered. I'm hopeful it won't take him that long, but I just didn't feel comfortable, especially with our schedule, to go short."
Mozeliak called up outfielder Adron Chambers to take Robinson's roster spot. Chambers brings speed and defense from Triple-A. He has a low average of .252 but stole 15 bases in 98 games with Memphis.
The Cardinals also recalled first baseman/outfielder Brock Peterson to take the spot of MVP candidate Yadier Molina, who also went on the DL Wednesday. Peterson adds a right-handed power bat off the bench. He hit 23 home runs in Triple-A.
The Cardinals enter play on August 1 in second place in the N.L. Central, 2.5 games behind Pittsburgh. They have one more game with Pittsburgh tonight and then face Cincinnati for three over the weekend. St. Louis currently leads Cincinnati by 3.5 games for the first N.L. Wild Card spot; Cincinnati holds the second spot.

What took you so long?
That is the question many Cardinals fans are probably asking John Mozeliak and Mike Matheny after Joe Kelly turned in another strong performance tonight, leading the Cards to victory over the Pirates and ending the team's 7-game skid.
Kelly pitched 6 scoreless innings, giving up just 3 hits and striking out 4. Although he also walked 4 hitters, he kept...
With Yadier Molina and Shane Robinson being placed on the 15-day disabled list, the St. Louis Cardinals have called up Adron Chambers and Brock Peterson from Triple-A Memphis.
With the offense scoring a grand total of six runs in the past six games (all losses), the team obviously needs a spark.
Thus, can Chambers be the spark the team needs?
In 326 at-bats for the Memphis...
If there is something far worse than plummeting out of first place losing a sixth consecutive game and dropping a doubleheader to their chief challenger the Cardinals found it in the rubble of a calamitous day at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park.

ST. LOUIS -- So the Cardinals didn't make a significant trade before the deadline for the first time since 2008.
I say good for them.
As sharp as Cliff Lee would look wearing the Birds on the Bat, the Cardinals never were close to a deal, according to a Phillies source.
If the Cardinals weren't going to mortgage a big chunk of their future on Lee, no other available...

ST. LOUIS -- The Cardinals are hosting "Star Wars" night at Busch Stadium next Wednesday, and a couple of self-described "Stars Wars" nerds on the FOX Sports Midwest staff -- producer Max Leinwand and graphics operator Keith O'Brien -- have been amusing themselves with the possibilities.
What do you get when you cross Jon Jay with Han Solo? Jon Solo.
With a new month comes a look back at the last. While doing research to find the minor league player of the month, there were several players who had very solid months. Let’s take a look at the runners-up first.
Adron Chambers had a very solid month of July, that may have been part of the reason for his July 31st call up to the big leagues. Chambers will take the spot of Shane...

As the month of August opens, the national schedules for Major League Baseball telecasts from FOX Network, ESPN, MLB Network and TBS indicate at least 15 St. Louis Cardinals games will be televised. That compares to 14 others which will not be shown on the broader stage.
The 15 include one on FOX and two on ESPN. A dozen will air on MLB Network, including two games during which the...
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed catcher Yadier Molina on the disabled list with a sprained knee, and the injury may be more serious than the Cardinals had originally thought. FOX Sports.com's Ken Rosenthal tweeted Wednesday morning that the Cardinals may now need to find a catcher to fill in for more than a 15-day stint.
