The St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to a minor-league contract with infielder Alex Cora.
Cora would earn $800,000 if he is added to the 40-man roster.
The 36-year-old spent last season with the Washington Nationals, playing four positions. He batted .224 with six RBIs in 156 at-bats.
Cora, known for his defense, has played with six teams during his 14-year career.

The Washington Nationals signed outfielder Rick Ankiel to a minor league contract.
Ankiel appeared in 122 games - tying a career high - with the Nationals last season, batting .239 with nine home runs and 37 RBIs.
The 32-year-old Ankiel had his best season with St. Louis in 2008, batting .264 with 25 homers and 71 RBIs.
