The St. Louis Cardinals have signed left handed reliever Randy Choate to a three-year, $7.5mm deal, Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reports.
With the departure of Choate, the Dodgers will now need to look for a left hander for their bullpen as they have Paco Rodriguez who will probably be sent back to the minors for more seasoning and Scott Elbert who is recovering from offseason surgery.
Choate started the season in Miami, but was traded to the Dodgers in the Hanley Ramirez deal. For the season, Choate appeared in 80 games totaling 38 2/3 innings while posting a 3.03 ERA. He held left-handed batters to a .158 average (16 for 101) and righties hit .325 against him (13 for 40).
