ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Cardinals organization will forever remember the great Stan Musial, who passed away at the age of 92 on January 19. And this season, the team will play with the memory of The Man close to their hearts. The Cardinals have released a patch honoring Musial that will be worn on the left sleeve of the Redbirds' uniform for the entire 2013 season. Unlike the traditional memorial color of black, the St. Louis organization decided to stick with red as a way to celebrate Stans life. Musial's signature used on the patch is the same model that is used in Musial Plaza where his name is signed in granite on the sidewalk and is near Stan's statue, a common meeting place for baseball fans at Busch Stadium. A 24-time All-Star, Musial hit .331 and had 475 home runs and 1,951 RBI during his career and led the league in doubles eight different times. He finished his career with 3,630 hits exactly 1,815 at home and 1,815 on the road. Stan The Man spent his entire 22-year career with the Cardinals was inducted as a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 1969. The Musial patch will make its debut on April 1st when the Cardinals take on the Diamondbacks in Arizona.
