To replace Linebrink, the Cardinals have purchased right-handed reliever Victor Marte from Memphis (AAA) and he will be in uniform (66) for today's game at Milwaukee.
St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Lance Berkman doesn't appear to care much for the new Miami Marlins stadium, saying, "there were a lot of shenanigans."

Springfield, MO - The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the Springfield Cardinals roster for the upcoming season.
New Manager Mike Shildt and returning Hitting Coach Phillip Wellman and Pitching Coach Bryan Eversgerd will be well stocked heading into the 2012 season.

Jayson Stark did an article for ESPN yesterday that talked about some of the St. Louis Cardinals’ reactions to the new stadium in Miami. I found some of the comments pretty damn funny…
Cardinals 1B Lance Berkman:
“I just feel like, if it were up to me — and it’s not; nobody asked me, and I don’t know why anybody would care about my opinion — but if I was building...
David Freese (credits below) St. Louis doesn't seem too phased about saying bye-bye to Pujols. Beltran, Holliday and Freese all went yard in the 3rd en route to a 11-5 win over the Brewers. Freese is now 5 for 10 in his first 2 games and continuing right where he left off from last years postseason. That's a lot of coin saved for the Cards if they can keeping winning without...
So far, the St. Louis Cardinals are making it look easy in 2012. And while no one would say anything in 2011 was easy—maybe when they put Game 7 of the World Series out of reach…maybe—the Cards are playing a lot like they did at the end of last season.
And that’s no small feat, for a couple of reasons. Mike Matheny and his revamped coaching staff may not have been tested...
The St. Louis Cardinals decided to let Albert Pujols walk in free agency and the move is paying off. The defending champions are off to a 2-0 start and their "great" first baseman is hitless in his new home.Ok maybe I'm jumping the gun a little. Pujols lined out in his first Angels at-bat, but you can sense his impact to the culture and atmosphere around the whole Angels...
Opening Day is in the books for the defending champions, now the St. Louis Cardinals will play the remainder of the month against the Central Division and it starts with a series in Milwaukee against the Brewers.
It’s time to grab a cold frosty one (heh, heh, heh), make some nachos and settle in on the couch, the season is starting. Don’t get any cheese on the keyboard and...

Baseball returned today, with some 46,000 fans packing into Miller Park to watch the Brewers face the hated Cardinals, and with it the return of tailgating and sausage races in earnest.
