Centerfielder Carlos Gomez was a unanimous selection as the Milwaukee Brewers' 2013 most valuable player in annual balloting by the Milwaukee chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
Gomez received all eight first-place ballots to total 40 points. Voters made three selections for each award with five points for a first-place vote three for a second and one for a third.
Veteran right-hander Kyle Lohse was a unanimous selection as the most valuable pitcher. Lohse also was named the team's top newcomer receiving seven first-place votes.
Rightfielder Norichika Aoki received five first-place votes to edge reliever Brandon Kintzler as the team's "unsung hero." And catcher Jonathan Lucroy received six first-place votes to receive the team's "good guy" award which goes to a player who has been easily accessible and cooperative with the media as well as a positive force in the community.
Gomez easily claimed the MVP award over shortstop Jean Segura (18 points) and Lucroy (...
