Okay, so your boy Stats All Folks hasn’t even made a rough cheat sheet and the only thing I’ve done so far is rank catchers. Regardless, I’m comfortable saying that Carlos Santana is a first round caliber fantasy option. Crazy? Not really. Position scarcity is a *****, and Santana provides an incredible advantage at a position that generally produces mediocre-at-best results. Santana’s power potential is tremendous, but the real reason he’s set to be such a diesel option is his playing time. Last year the San-Man had 63 more PAs than Victor Martinez (who mostly DH’d) and came to the plate 225 more times than Mike Napoli, who is widely considered the second best fantasy catcher. That’s a huge advantage to have as a fantasy owner since most backstops have a hard time reaching the 500 PA plateau. The Indians have very little offensive upside and they have no choice but to stick Santana at first or DH just to keep his bat in the lineup everyday. So Santana cl...

Jason Kipnis, 2012 Fantasy Sleeper
When you play in a league where you’re required to draft at least one player that sounds like a dish from a delicatessen, who do you want? Kipnis or the Russian émigré, Kasha Varnishkes? Easy, Jason Kipnis. Even in leagues that aren’t drafted on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Kipnis needs less selling than a five-day-old kugel when you look at Bill James’s 2012 projections...

Cleveland Indians off season: Where is Charlie Spikes when you need him?
The Cleveland Indians need a power hitting right handed hitter. They have been mentioned with about every retread from Paul Dade to Horace Speed. What about Alex Cole Jr. or Oscar Gamble or even Willie Mays Aikens ?So far they have traded Luis Valbuena, Cory Burns, and Chris Jones. All with underwhelming futures. They just can’t afford the top tier free agents like the big...

Asdrubal’s Glove
Even a Cleveland Indians fan doesn’t believe Asdrubal Cabrera is the best fielder in baseball:
I’m not saying Cabrera’s that bad of a fielder. You shouldn’t take his -19.1 FRAA at face value, and even his -11.8 UZR should be taken with a grain of salt. But even if you don’t put any stock in any of the five most popular sabermetric defensive stats—all of which put...
