McGehee has a mild left groin strain #Pirates — Michael Waterloo (@MichaelWaterloo) July 8, 2012 Hopefully it doesn’t force Casey McGehee to miss any time. If you are going to have a “mild” injury, I guess the best time to do that is with a 10-0 lead in the last game before the All-Star Break. McGehee came up limping after drilling a two-run single into the North Side Notch. It was clearly visible something was wrong as soon as he broke out of the box. McGehee is hitting .252/.328/.408 and has really been hitting the ball well over the past month.

Walker, McCutchen power Pirates past Giants

Burnett won his 10th game in Pittsburgh's 13-2 blowout of San Francisco on Sunday at PNC Park. That sent the Pirates, whose streak of 19 consecutive losing seasons is a professional sports record...

Pirates go into All-Star break on a high note

It’s hardly even a surprise anymore: AJ Burnett shut down the other team’s offense while the Pirates’ offense scored a lot of runs.  Today’s 13-2 win over the Giants is what we’re getting used to.  ”We were good all over the board today,” Clint Hurdle said after the game.  ”Just a good finish.” Burnett pitched [...]
