Found May 10, 2012 on Rumors and Rants:
Finally, someone answered the gauntlet that I raised a few weeks ago when I hoped some opposing fanbase would greet Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen dressed as Fidel Castro. The above-pictured group of Houston Astro fans were up to the task Tuesday night, showing up in beard-and-beret garb to heckle Guillen, who infamously earned suspension earlier this season by praising the dictator. Unfortunately, the Astros had as much tolerance for these guys dressing as Castro as MLB did for Guillen speaking about him in a flattering manner. According to fan John Egbert’s Facebook — he’s one of the faux-bearded fellows in the picture — security removed them from Minute Maid Park in the fifth inning after they were shown on television. (According to Facebook he is a Purdue grad, so this move makes him the third-greatest Boilermaker ever behind Neil Armstrong and Drew Brees and slightly ahead of neck-bearded Kyle Orton. And that’s about it for the list of great Boilermakers). But hey, some t...

Ozzie lashes out over Castro question

A follow-up question about the Fidel Castro incident set off the Marlins manager, causing him to do what he does best: curse up a storm.

Looks like Ozzie Guillen is back to being Ozzie Guillen

Well, it didn’t take long for Ozzie Guillen to return to the Ozzie Guillen of old. We hadn’t heard much from Guillen, other than an apology, since being suspended for his Fidel Castro comments. So it actually could be argued that Guillen has finally gotten it. But just as you begin to think that we may be seeing a new and improved Ozzie Guillen, the same old Ozzie Guillen rears...

Don’t Ask Ozzie Guillen About Anything He Said Last Month

Marlins PR Guy – “Okay, Mr. Guillen. Now if they ask you any questions about the Castro comments – just say, “No comment.” Can you do that for me, Mr. Guillen?” Ozzie Guillen – “Oh **** You. Grow up, ************.” Marlins PR Guy – “Well, as long as you don’t say that we should be alright.”

White Sox closer Sale to have MRI on elbow

New White Sox closer Chris Sale will undergo an MRI on his sore left elbow. Chicago pitching coach Don Cooper said Sale will have the test Thursday. Manager Robin Ventura recently named Sale his closer after the left-hander made five starts but had tenderness in his elbow. He went 3-1 with a 2.81 ERA. Sale made his debut as a closer Wednesday, entering in the eighth inning with...

What’s Fueling Adam Dunn’s Resurgence?

After suffering through an abysmal 2011 season, White Sox designated hitter Adam Dunn is off to a fantastic start this year. Last season, the 31-year-old Dunn put up a career-low .266 weighted on-base average (wOBA), or 59 wRC+, in nearly 500 plate appearances. His on-base percentage — which normally was a strength for the slugger — was .292, or 62 points below his previous career...

White Sox 8, Indians 1

Jake Peavy coasted for six innings before giving up a run in the seventh and Adam Dunn homered, leading the Chicago White Sox to an easy 8-1 win over the AL Central-leading Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night and a split of their four-game series. Peavy (4-1) allowed seven hits, struck out five and had little difficulty with the Indians, who didn't get a runner past second...

White Sox 8 Indians 1: Just One Of Those Games

The old adage in baseball is momentum is the next day’s starting pitcher. The beauty of the game of baseball is the you can turn the page after a bad night. The season is a marathon, not a sprint. You can’t get too high or too low after one game. Take last night for example. The game between the Tribe and the Chicago White Sox was delayed by an hour thanks to a light rain storm...

What You Need to Know: Tuesday, May 8 by Daniel Rathman

The Monday Takeaway When the Marlins embarked on their nine-game road trip to San Francisco, San Diego, and Houston, manager Ozzie Guillen’s team was a disappointing 7-15. Seven games in, Miami has improved to 14-15, going from an early afterthought to within 3 ½ games of the division-leading Nationals. Here are the Marlins’ runs allowed totals during this road trip: 1...
