Kansas City Royals left-hander Bruce Chen swears he likes pitching at Fenway Park. His numbers there, however, reflect a different story. In 11 career games, including five starts, with The Green Monster looming closely in the left field background, Chen is 1-3 with a 7.00 ERA. His ERA was inflated by a July 27, 2011, start at Boston, a 12-5 loss in which Chen permitted 10 runs, a career worst, in four innings. David Ortiz hit a grand slam off Chen, one of three home runs he allowed that day. Chen will start Friday against the Red Sox as the Royals' seven-game road trip continues after a day off Thursday. Kansas City lost two of three to the Rays. After starting the season 0-4, Chen claimed his initial victory of the season May 9 against the Red Sox at Kauffman Stadium, allowing three runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.
