FF Locker Room:
MLB News: The Chicago Cubs sent pitcher Hisanori Takahashi packing as they outrighted him to Triple-A Iowa. Having been designated for assignment last Tuesday, he went unclaimed through the waiver process. He had a 6.00 earned run average in three innings this year.
Fantasy Ramifications: Takahashi, even if he is brought to the majors later on this year, has no fantasy baseball value.

This is a short Cubs minor league recap seeing as the Iowa Cubs and Kane County Cougars were postponed.

Eric Jokisch struckout 7 and walked none over 6 innings today. He gave up 3 hits and no runs. The 23-year old left-hander is off to a fantastic start in AA. He's thrown 6 innings in each of his three starts and has not allowed more than...
Shawon Dunston Jr reached base four times on three singles and a walk, scored twice, and drove-in a run, Yasiel Balaguert singled twice, tripled, and knocked-in four runs, and Jacob Rogers smacked a two-run triple and walked, leading one squad of Cubs to a 7-3 victory over one squad of Diamondbacks on Field #3, and Francisco Sanchez hammered a two-run triple and then scored on...
Now that the Cubs have completed 10% of their season (well, they've been rained out twice), I thought it'd be nice to give a review of how the Cubs have done so far this year. This should be a fairly long post and will focus exclusively on the major league roster.

Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein says his twin brother finished running the Boston Marathon about 45 minutes before the two explosions near the finish line.
Epstein spent nearly a decade as general manager of the Boston Red Sox. Earlier this week at Wrigley Field, he said his mother ran in the marathon ''at least a half-dozen times.''
Javier Baez, SS, Chicago (NL)
Baez, 20, hit .333 at the low-A ball level in 2012 but he did it while walking just nine times in 57 games. He then finished his injury-shortened season with another 23 games in high-A ball but struggled. His plate issues have continued into 2013 with 18 strikeouts and two walks in 58 at-bats. While his aggressive nature has not helped his batting average...
It’s too early to worry. It’s a long season. They just have to find their bearings. All excuses that beat around the bush of the terrible bullpen of the Chicago Cubs. Through thirteen games, the Cubs relievers have blown four saves. The bullpen’s collective ERA is 6.06 and collective WHIP of 1.54. Despite the Cubs [...]
Alfonso Soriano hit his first home run of the season, Anthony Rizzo also homered and the Chicago Cubs beat the Texas Rangers 6-2 Thursday at a soggy Wrigley Field.
Despite torrential rains that caused citywide floods, the teams were able to play in an occasional drizzle. The Cubs and Texas were rained out Wednesday.
Rizzo hit a two-run homer in the third inning and Soriano followed...
MLB News: Julio Borbon was claimed off of the waiver wire by the Chicago Cubs from the Texas Rangers Friday. Spending his whole career in the Texas system, Borbon has a solid glove, but very little power and while he possesses very nice speed, his knowledge of the art of running has a few holes in it. There have been plenty of gems that were found on the waivers after being cast...
In the aftermath of the recently announced deal with the city to renovate Wrigley Field, Theo Epstein spoke to the media about its potential benefits to the team:
Our payroll now is third in the division. That’s fine. But it should be first in the division. So this is one of the ways that we’re going to get there.
It should be, we are on the same page. And this is one of the...
