Adam Dunn looks to continue a very good offensive August.
The Chicago White Sox had another winning week from August 12-18 going 7-2 against American League Central rivals. The White Sox took two of three against the Detroit Tigers and three of four from the Minnesota Twins.
On Monday against the Tigers, Sox starter Chris Sale defeated Detroit’s Doug Fister. Sale was tagged early with two runs but recovered and pitched a complete game against the Tigers winning 6-2. Sale would later have another win against the Twins on Saturday giving up three earned runs over seven innings. Sale had to sweat this one out as Sox reliever Nate Jones surrendered two runs in the eigth, but the Sox pulled it out to take an 8-5 victory.
The key to the Sox’ success for the week has been the ability to score runs. The Sox averaged five runs a game for the week, and with the usual reliability of the White Sox pitching staff it translated into five more victories.
Adam Dunn continues to have a great month of August. Going into action on Sunday, Dunn was batting .390 so far in August with three home runs, seven RBI and ten walks. However, shortstop Alexei Ramirez has been also enjoyed a very productive month with two home runs, ten RBI and batting.315. In fact, Alexei has doubled his season home run total during August and found himself batting third in the lineup on Sunday.
After the second week of winning baseball for the Chicago White Sox, they will look to make it a third as they face the Kansas City Royals and the Texas Rangers after an off-day on Monday. White Sox Brazillian starter Andre Rienzo will get another start on Wednesday against the Royals while Chris Sale will go for another victory against Rangers starter Martin Perez on Friday night. Yu Darvish will oppose the Sox’ Hector Santiago on Saturday night making for an interesting pitching match up as well.
