A boy and an adult were ejected from US Cellular Field in Chicago Thursday after the youngster ran onto the field during the sixth inning, before being swiftly picked up by White Sox player Dayan Viciedo.
"My first reaction was just to grab him," Viciedo told the Chicago Tribune through an interpreter. "What I was thinking was that I hoped a ball doesn't hit him, so that is why I instinctively went to grab him."
The child's age and identity were not revealed, but he appeared to be around 5 years old.
White Sox spokesman Scott Reifert said it was necessary to take the incident seriously, with Major League Baseball rules calling for the ejection of fans who run onto the field.
"Safety is our No. 1 concern and we are happy the child is fine," Reifert said. "But going on the field is stuff we do take seriously. It's not something we condone in any way."
The White Sox lost the game 5-3 to the Orioles.
BEST OF MAXIM
There are plenty instances of fans who want their 15 seconds of fame and get it by running on a field during a live sporting event. Usually they range from 21-40 and they are helped by some sort of liquid courage. Today during the Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles game a fan ran onto the field and the game was halted momentarily. The culprit was not our usual fan looking...
I had just stopped watching the White Sox/Orioles game when I noticed this tweet pop up on one of my columns on Tweetdeck:
A small child was just running around in left field. He's being carried off by security. No tackling or tasering. That was bizarre.

Yes, that sounded bizarre enough for me to tune back in and go...
Alexei Ramirez has been one of the White Sox most consistent players throughout the last few seasons.
He’s been an everyday starter for four seasons now and has averaged a .278 BA, 19 HR, and 77 RBI per year. What’s most impressive is that these statistics have not been skewed by extreme numbers in any given year; in each of his seasons he had stats right around those averages...
"May the mother who left their kid near the third base line, come back he's on the field".
It happened during yesterday's White Sox/Orioles game and he was quickly scooped up by White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo and handed over to a security guard:

In one of the best catches of the MLB season so far, White Sox left fielder Dayan Vicied scooped up a little boy as he ran on the field during the 7th inning of the Sox loss at U.S. Cellular Field on Thursday.
This kid is starting early.. If he was my kid I would be nervous that I have a menace on my hands, the little guy is a budding criminal.

We had our first “getaway day special” today, and UGod from South Side Sox was kind enough to give us an hour of his time and expertise talking all things White Sox.

It’s not technically an off day since the White Sox play this afternoon, but it is getaway day…which means no Good Guys to watch tonight.
So we’ll give you something to do instead, with Episode #4 of White Sox Off Day.
The esteemed UGod from South Side Sox joins Kevin and Jerod to break down the rather schizophrenic series against the Orioles, which concludes at 1:10 at U...
Adam Dunn hit two homers and drove in five runs, powering the Chicago White Sox past the Seattle Mariners 7-3 Friday night.
Chris Sale (2-1) struck out 11 in 6 1-3 innings. He gave up three runs and seven hits for the White Sox.
Dunn connected for a three-run homer off Hector Noesi (1-2) in the second inning to make it 6-0. He hit his third home run of the season in the eighth...
The next six days will consist of two interesting series for your Chicago White Sox.
They head out on the road to take on the Mariners and the Athletics in what will be a telling stretch as far as how the south siders can bounce back from a disappointing series in which they dropped three out of four at home to the Baltimore Orioles.
While the whooping this past week from the O’s...
