Of course, it isn't like anybody really chooses the National League Champions. But since my Washington Nationals are home watching the playoffs, I have been trying to make up my mind who I'd like to represent the National League in the World Series. As I write, we're in the fourth game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets, with the Cards up 2 games to 1, but with the Mets ahead in this game 5 to 2...which we all know may or may not last.St. Louis has looked stronger to me, and they've come so close twice recently--maybe three's the charm for them. I'd say the Mets are more our rivals, because they're in the NL East, except that our young franchise hasn't really reached that level yet. Besides, they're the one team I could actually go see if I got my hands on World Series tickets.Hm, guess I'll have to quit speculating and just go enjoy the game. Guess what I'll wish for is for both this series and the World Series to go ...
