Fox Sports Florida:
WASHINGTON (AP) Ross Ohlendorf pitched neatly into the sixth inning, Ian Desmond had three hits and the Washington Nationals beat the Miami Marlins 2-1 on Tuesday night.
Ohlendorf (3-0) pitched five innings of two-hit ball before Christian Yelich led off the sixth with his second home run, ending the starter's outing. It was Ohlendorf's second start since he was sidelined by right shoulder inflammation.
Tanner Roark, Drew Storen and Tyler Clippard each pitched a hitless inning before Rafael Soriano finished the four hitter for his 34th save.

The Marlins owner is once again sticking his nose where it doesn't belongwhen it comes to the team's personnel decisions.

The Miami Marlins were involved in a possibly unprecedented baserunning gaffe as two runners slid into the same base at the same time during Wednesday night's game in Washington. It happened in the top of the sixth inning with Marlins runners Logan Morrison on third and Donovan Solano on first. Marlins batter Adeiny Hechavarria hit a...

Washington Nationals outfielder Denard Span was struggling at the plate until he spoke to his mom and she helped him with his approach at the plate.
Before trading recently acquired outfielder David DeJesus, the Washington Nationals moved veteran backup catcher Kurt Suzuki to the Oakland Athletics. About a year earlier, the Nationals traded for Suzuki who was a member of the Athletics prior to his deal to the Nationals. Now, Suzuki is on his way back to Oakland.
Though General Manager Mike Rizzo recently claimed the Nationals...
The Washington Nationals have recalled right-hander Ryan Mattheus from Triple-A Syracuse and optioned left-hander Xavier Cedeno to their top farm club.
The 29-year-old Mattheus was optioned to Syracuse on Aug. 15 to make room for right-hander Drew Storen. He allowed one earned run in 5 1-3 innings during five appearances with Syracuse.
Mattheus is 0-1 with a 6.26 ERA in 23 games...
Your browser does not support iframes. The Miami Marlins lost another game on Wednesday night, which is nothing noteworthy. They have done that 82 times this season with 31 games remaining on their schedule, so we can expect to see a lot more of it. However, first baseman Logan Morrison did bring us one entertaining […]
Davey Johnson will be out as manager of the Washington Nationals after the season, and Cal Ripken Jr. could be a possibility to replace him, according to a report. Yahoo! Sports’ Jeff Passan says Johnson is “not coming back” after two years on the job, which was the plan going back to November. Johnson led […]
Jayson Werth's contract will probably prove onerous for the Nationals down the road, but he has actually been quite good for them in 2013, and has made improvements that show he could be useful for at least the next couple of years.
Without ever mentioning a client by name, Scott Boras insinuated to reporters that he will soon seek a 12-year contract extension for Washington National Bryce Harper. The 20-year-old Harper signed a 5-year contract worth $9.9 million with Washington after being selected first overall in 2010. “I’m more into 12-year deals for young players,” said Boras, 60, who represents roughly...
When you check out this odd play during Wednesday's Marlins-Nationals game, you might think you are seeing double. Don't call the optometrist just yet because it's only the Marlins' Logan Morrison and Donovan Solano both sliding into third base at the same time.
Morrison found himself retreating to third base — just as Solano rounded second to join him at the...
Bryce Harper's agent, Scott Boras, was in attendance at the Washington Nationals game last night. He answered questions from the media ranging from Danny Espinosa to Harper's contract. Of course, with Boras anything said as a joke must be taken as a possible truth. So when he discussed an extension for Harper, people listened.
Dan Kolko of MASN says that Boras...
Giancarlo Stanton batted cleanup for the first time this season. He hit a home run and rattled Nationals Park with a foul ball that might still be rolling among the city's tourist attractions had it not clanged loudly off the facade of the middle deck in foul territory.
But the homer was a solo shot, and the mighty foul ball was followed by a swing-and-miss for strike three...
NotThatBobJames Buy or Sell isn’t just about picking up players to add to your roster. It’s also about finding players on your roster that have been collecting dust and getting them back out there. Let’s take a look at a couple of pitchers you might have on your roster, but have forgotten about. Dan Haren got off to a slow start for the Nationals this year, is it time to...
Scott Boras tipped his hand a little bit – if you can consider it anything shocking – by saying he wants a 12-year deal for Bryce Harper whenever that time comes.
If you were expecting anything fair from Boras on the topic then you were being extremely naive. The guy is here to destroy the game of baseball’s financial cash flow sheets with the green heading in one direction...
