Cincinnati Reds Call Up Prospect Michael Siani, Move Stuart Fairchild to Injured List
USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Reds have called up outfield prospect Michael Siani from Triple-A Louisville, the team announced Tuesday.

In a run of related moves, the Reds placed outfielder Stuart Fairchild on the 7-day concussion list retroactive to Monday. Cincinnati also designated outfielder Henry Ramos for assignment and selected the contract of veteran outfielder Nick Martini from Triple-A Louisville.

Fairchild was hitting .229 with five home runs, 27 RBI, nine stolen bases, a .711 OPS and a 0.5 WAR in 82 games with the Reds this season. He joins Jake Fraley on the injured list, knocking out two of Cincinnati's top five outfielders.

Siani is ranked as the No. 5 outfielder and No. 26 overall prospect in the Reds' farm system, according to MLB Pipeline.

Siani already made his MLB debut in 2022, four years after Cincinnati took him in the fourth round of the MLB Draft. The left-handed outfielder hit .167 with a .333 OPS in his first nine games at the major league level. Siani spent spring training with the Reds as well, batting .250 with a .558 OPS in 15 exhibition games.

Returning to Triple-A Louisville this season, Siani was hitting .228 with nine home runs, 47 RBI, 22 stolen bases and a .698 OPS.

MLB.com has Siani graded out at 45 hit, 45 power, 60 run, 60 arm, 60 field and 40 overall.

Siani is not in the Reds' starting lineup Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels. TJ Friedl is starting in center, while rookies Spencer Steer and Will Benson are set to start in the corners.

There are rookies elsewhere in Cincinnati's lineup, with Elly De La Cruz getting the nod at shortstop, Matt McLain starting at second, Noelvi Marte starting at third and Christian Encarnacion-Strand starting at designated hitter. Despite the young lineup, the Reds are sitting at 64-61 – 1.0 game back of the third and final NL Wild Card spot.

First pitch between the Reds and Angels is scheduled for 9:38 p.m. ET.
