Cincinnati Reds release RHP Jon Adkins

According to right-handed pitcher Jon Adkins‘ official Twitter account, he says, “Wanted to let all my tweeps know that Sun after the gm, the Reds released me, they need my innings so they can move guys…in WV chillin now” Adkins, 32, has not pitched in the Major Leagues since he appeared in four games for the Reds in 2008 when he went 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA. Adkins was a candidate for the fifth starter spot in the Reds rotation during Spring Training of this year. In six seasons, he has career 5-5 records witha  4.54 ERA in 138 2/3 innings pitched.
