Cincinnati Reds rookie Spencer Steer has been named a finalist for a Silver Slugger Award, the league announced Thursday morning.

The 25-year-old played 156 games at first base, third base and left field for the Reds in 2023, earning him a spot as a utility finalist, which was introduced in 2022. Steer led Cincinnati with 158 hits, 37 doubles, 23 home runs, 86 RBI and 68 walks, all while batting .271 with three triples, 15 stolen bases and an .820 OPS.

Steer is joined in the National League utility category by Chicago Cubs outfielder and first baseman Cody Bellinger, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder and second baseman Mookie Betts, and San Diego Padres infielder Ha-Seong Kim. Bellinger and Betts are both finalists in the outfield as well.

Among that group of four, Steer ranks last in oWAR at 3.5. He outpaced Kim in every major traditional offensive stat outside of walks and stolen bases, though.

Steer is the Reds' only finalist for either a Silver Slugger or Gold Glove this season, despite Cincinnati's breakout year that had them on the verge of a Wild Card spot up until the final weekend of September.

The Silver Slugger Award winners will be announced on MLB Network at 6 p.m. ET on Nov. 9.
