Cincinnati Reds Start Slow, Never Recover in 4-2 Loss to San Francisco Giants
Kareem Elgazzar-USA TODAY NETWORK

The Reds lost 4-2 to the San Francisco Giants on Monday night.

Frankie Montas was the starting pitcher and he was amazing on the mound! He started the game with two strikeouts in the first inning. Montas only allowed one run over four innings and finished with five strikeouts.

The Giants took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning following a RBI single by Marco Luciano. Wade Meckler had a RBI single in the fifth and Luis Matos grounded into a double play to score another run to give San Francisco a 3-0 lead.

The Reds answered after Jeimer Candelario hit a triple in the sixth inning. Nick Martini hit a sacrifice fly to trim the lead to 3-1.

Ismael Munguia tripled to give the Giants another run and plenty of breathing room down the stretch.

The Reds scored on a balk in the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit.
