Cleveland Indians closer Chris Perez and his wife Melanie will have the possession of marijuana case until September. The two were at a Rocky River Municipal Court on Tuesday morning and never made in inside the court room. After about an hour and a half, the Perez’s were whisked away by lawyers and came out with the case set to resume September 3. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the attorneys have discussed evidence sharing and neither Chris nor Melanie spoke with the media. Chris Perez and his wife both pled not guilty to the fourth degree misdemeanor possession charges after marijuana was mailed to their Rocky River, Oh home addressed to the couple’s dog Brody allegedly delivered by an undercover policeman. Although the plea is not guilty, a Rocky River Police Detective wrote in a report that Chris Perez told an officer that the marijuana and the paraphernalia found in his basement after the execution of the search warrant were indeed his. Chris Perez came into the game tonight in a save situation. The Indians were up 3-0 going into the top of the 9th inning and after giving up two singles to start the inning, Perez got out of the inning without giving up a run. The Indians beat the Blue Jays 3-0. Needless to say, Twitter won’t be buzzing with disappointment of yet another Indians pitcher, nor be trending #BlameChrisPerez.
