He allowed just one earned run, a second inning Carlos Beltran home run, over eight frames. Chase Utley put the Phils ontop in the eighth inning with a two-run shot to help secure Doc his sixth win of the season. Evening up his season record at 6-6, Halladay also took game one for the Phillies. Tonight, Cliff Lee (2-6, 3.78 ERA) will take on his former-Indians teammate Jake Westbrook (11-8, 3.76 ERA) in game two of this weekend series.  In Lee's last start, against the D-backs on Sunday, he got through eight four-run frames resulting in a no-decision. Lee surrendered three home runs to the D-backs on Sunday, bringing his ERA back up towards the 3.80's. All in all, Lee allowed eight hits, four earned runs while striking out five. The Phillies would go on to win this game with a Ryan Howard walkoff single in the ninth, withholding Lee from getti...

The Philadelphia Phillies offense hasn’t shown up very often this season, and tonight was no different. Cliff Lee’s record has fallen to 2-7, as the Phillies were beat by the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1. As the commentators mentioned during the game, they were lucky to even have the one run. As always, here’s your box score. Hitter AB R H RBI BB SO AVG OBP ...

The Team That Started It All: Phillies host Cardinals

Cliff Lee, who is 3-1 with a 1.93 ERA in five career starts against the St. Louis Cardinals, starts the middle game of the Phillies' three-game series against the Cardinals. (Philliedelphia/Kevin Durso) This disaster of a season actually didn't start in 2012. It started on October 7, 2011, when the Phillies were on the wrong end of a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to the St. Louis...

Lee Remains Winless at Home as Cardinals Top Phillies, 4-1.

Final: Cardinals 4, Phillies 1. WP: Jake Westbrook (12-8, 3.62 ERA) LP: Cliff Lee (2-7, 3.85 ERA) SV: Jason Motte (26) For whatever reason, the Philadelphia Phillies cannot seem to build momentum after a win in 2012. Friday night was a glimpse of the team we have grown accustom to during this recent playoff stretch starting from 2007 to what it looks like its conclusion in 2011...

The Doctor Is In: Halladay returning to form

Roy Halladay is 6-6 with a 3.80 ERA in his third season with the Phillies. (Philliedelphia/Kevin Durso) Roy Halladay left the field after the eighth inning in a 1-1 game on Friday night looking like he had plenty left in the tank. And if the ninth inning had started with the same score, he might have returned to the field. Halladay allowed one run on two hits in his Friday night...

The Doc Operates on the Red Birds

It seems like a very long time since we have seen a really good Phillies game. But with Roy Halladay on the mound last night looking like the ace that he is, it felt like old times again. After a year of struggles and injury, Halladay appears to be at 100% finally. Against the World Champion Cardinals Friday night, he pitched 8 innings and allowed only 2 hits, one of which was a...

Halladay, Lohse Start As Cardinals Return To Philly For First Time Since 2011 NLDS

On October 7, 2011 the Philadelphia Phillies played in what could be their final "golden era" game. Best friends Chris Carpenter and Roy Halladay squared off in an epic Game 5 of the NLDS in an effort to push their teams to the next stage of the postseason. Carpenter was able to fend off Halladay and the Phillies, tossing a 1-0 shutout to complete the series win over the...
