The Tribe Daily:
So the game lasted just under two hours and there is nothing left to talk about.
People watching on National Television, unless you were watching Disney Channel or the Lakers end my hopes and dreams of having three of my favorite teams win championships in one calender year (you know I had to get that in there, sad face), got to see Cliff Lee be awesome.
I guess I won't get greedy. Between the Penguins and Steelers and the Magic making it as far as they did... I guess I don't have the touch this year like I thought I did for awhile.
Even if the Magic won, I could have counted on the Tribe to end that.
Anywho..
Cliff Lee pretty much dominates the Cardinals. Dan Schulman was doing his best to jinx Cliff Lee, even though I don't believe in jinxes. But Cliff takes his no-hitter into the eighth inning until Yadier Molina doubled to lead off the inning. Choo probably could have caught the ball, but it would have been one hell of a catch.
Cliff gave up so little hits, I remember all of them. In the ninth, Ryan hits a little looper and Ludwick riffled one through. Cliff did a fantastic job though. He was ahead all night, mixes his pitches, and he was TEXTBOOK on how you pitch Albert Pujols. He couldn't have thrown at him any better.
You wanna learn how you pitch to a superstar hitter, you show them waht Cliff Lee did against him tonight.
Offensively.. It would have been tough to not support Cliff tonight, even with Chris Carpenter on the mound. Carpenter did pretty good, minus the two-run homer he gave up to DeRosa early and the solo shot to Shoppach late.
So what else can I say other than... 2-Hours, Cliff Lee almost throws a no-hitter, the Indians didn't have to waste too many fireworks, and we've got one more national televised game to go.
Yes the run of three straight nationally televised games comes to an end tomorrow after the Indians and Brewers face off in Cleveland. The pitching matchup: Carl Pavano and Dave Bush. Tuesday's game has their best in Yovani Gallardo going up against Jeremy Sowers and Wednesday's finale will see David Huff taking on Jeff Suppan.
The good news? JODY GERUT RETURNS!!! MWAHAHAHA YOU'D THINK I FORGET THAT?!
