North Side Notch:
Final: Pirates 8, Reds 4
WP: A.J. Burnett (5-2, 3.76 ERA)
LP: Homer Bailey (4-4, 4.39 ERA)
SV: Joel Hanrahan (15, 2.57 ERA)
Cincinnati scored two runs in the first inning of this game and I’m not going to lie, I didn’t feel too good after that. Homer Bailey was on the hill for the Reds, who went into the game with a 6-0 record and a 1.79 ERA in eight career starts against the Pirates. It wasn’t the way you want things to start.
But Garrett Jones started the 2nd inning off with a single and a stolen base. He would score on an RBI single by Casey McGehee. After a fielder’s choice by Rod Barajas, Clint Barmes doubled deep to left center field to score Barajas all the way from first base.
Alex Presley then led off the 3rd inning with a triple and later scored on a 2-run homer by Neil Walker, his 3rd of the year. Barmes would later deliver a 2-run single in the inning to push the Pirates’ lead to 6-2.
McGehee and Presley would both add a solo home run to put the game totally out of reach...

Team source w/ Pirates confirms Alex Presley expected to join club in Cincy for tomorrow. Unsure of corresponding move, but Presley on way.

Alex Presley definitely deserves this. He’s been crushing the ball in Indianapolis. Going into tonight’s game, he was hitting .290/.392/.661 with five HR in 62 at bats.
You would have to think...

The Bucs are in Cincy to take on the Reds this week, but first, some news:
Alex Presley has been recalled from Indianapolis today. He’ll take the spot of Gorkys Hernandez, who was sent back down. I personally would have liked to see Jose Tabata (who has...
Did anyone really see homers from Neil Walker, Casey McGehee, and Alex Presley coming? I sure didn’t. That said for how bad the offense has been they haven’t been completely inept at hitting the long ball. I mean tied for 20th is no great shakes but it’s much better than the 28th their SLG ranks. CINCINNATI (AP) -- Clint Barmes had three hits and drove in three runs, and the Pittsburgh Pirates extended their home-run tear by hitting three more for an 8-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night.
Neil Walker hit a two-run homer, and Casey McGehee and Alex Presley had solo shots, giving the Pirates seven homers in their last two games.
A.J. Burnett (5-2) won his...
Here’s Jay Bruce, in the casual if futile attempt to catch the home run that Alex Presley of the Pittsburgh Pirates hit over the wall last night. This seems like a pretty unfortunate situation, but maybe if we look at it from a different perspective…

As Pittsburgh's A.J. Burnett continued his recent mastery last week against the Cincinnati Reds, Homer Bailey managed to baffle the Pirates yet again.
With Burnett and Bailey each riding three-start winning streaks, runs could be at a premium Tuesday night as Pittsburgh tries for a fifth consecutive road victory over NL Central-leading Cincinnati in the opener of a three-game...

The Pirates finally figured out how to hit Homer Bailey and continued to play great baseball on Tuesday night. Your Bucs have now won 8 out of their last 10 – and by that measure, they’re the hottest team in the NL.
Just like both their wins in Milwaukee, the Pirates played poorly in the first inning. Andrew McCutchen was thrown out trying to move up on a ball in the dirt, and...
The Pirates' figured out one of their long-time Cincinnati nemeses last night when they tagged Homer Bailey for a bunch of runs, tonight they try to get their second win against Johnny Cueto in eight days. They drew some walks off of Cueto last Wednesday, taking four in his seven innings, and eeked out a 2-1 win behind AJ Burnett. Instead of Burnett tonight, the Bucs send Brad...
