GAME 1 I’d really rather not talk about game one.  But I feel like I have to. Colby Lewis struck out 12 batters and allowed just five hits.  Sounds great, right?  But what if I tell you that those five hits were home runs?  Not so great anymore.  It’s never happened in MLB history … and I really wish the Rangers wouldn’t make history like that. The first three batters he faced in the game hit home runs.  The other two came in the 7th inning.  In between that, he retired 18 consecutive batters.  I’m so confused about how I should feel.  I went from mad to feeling good and back to mad.  Don’t do that to me again, Colby.  Please. He’s lucky it was the first game of a doubleheader or he may not have been in for seven innings.  But somehow he made it.  And Mark Lowe pitched the final inning of the game, holding the Orioles to six runs. The Rangers tried to mount a comeback.  They were down 6-2 in the 9th when David Murphy hit a three-run home run with just one out.  But Ian Kinsler and

Hamilton's deal possibly short, sweet

If you think outfielder Josh Hamilton will sign a contract that sufficiently protects the Texas Rangers from any injuries and relapses that he might suffer, think again. Hamilton need not make concessions when he likely would receive a massive, fully guaranteed free-agent contract if he stays reasonably healthy and productive. Besides, the collective bargaining agreement addresses...

A's pitcher jokes about hot Hamilton

Josh Hamilton has been absurdly hot for the Rangers, so one of Oakland's pitchers cracked a joke about facing the slugger.

Will The Rangers Go Ham?

Going HAM Reportedly, the Rangers declare great interest in signing Josh Hamilton to a contract extension.  Naturally, expressing such interest comes straight from the “GM for Dummies” handbook.  If the club fails to appear genuine with this interest, then Team Hamilton (represented by agent Michael Moye) has every reason to use the “disrespected and unloved” approach...

Will Josh Hamilton Lead the Major Leagues in Home Runs?

Josh Hamilton accomplished one of the rarest feats in all of baseball on Tuesday, blasting four home runs in a single game. The Rangers outfielder is only the 14th player to ever do that, putting him in rare company considering 21 players have pitched perfect games. Hamilton has been on a tear all year long so far, mashing 14 home runs through 27 games, which would put him on pace...

Free agency isn't driving Hamilton

Josh Hamilton tied the major league record for homers in a game Tuesday. Of course, you know what happened next. Time to talk about his pending free agency. Hamilton, who went 5-for-5 Tuesday with four homers, eight RBI and 18 total bases, said Wednesday that free agency isn't driving his amazing start. The Texas Rangers outfielder begins Thursday's doubleheader against...

In Celebration of Josh Hamilton…and the 6 Other Baseball Players I’d Pay the Most to See Play

Last night, Josh Hamilton crushed four home runs in a single game, becoming only the 16th player in MLB history do so. Normally, that would sum up such a superlative single-game feat. Not with Hamilton. Is there anyone in the game today more fun to watch than Josh Hamilton? Hamilton erasing doubts about his future

It's hard to believe that about two months ago a fair amount of Rangers fans had made peace with Josh Hamilton likely wearing a different uniform next season. In the aftermath of an alcohol-related relapse and his subsequent comments that he didn't owe the Rangers organization anything, it seemed like a reasonable course of action to let him walk in free agency. Then April...

Rangers Minor League Roundup – 5/8

The Triple-A Round Rock Express pounded out 11 runs on 17 hits, including 10 extra-base knocks in Tuesday's series opener at Salt Lake. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action in the Texas Rangers' system.

Josh Hamilton Setting Impossibly High Bar for Red Sox to Measure Up With (Video)

Josh Hamilton made history on Tuesday night, which was pretty awesome. What hasn't been as awesome is the recent string of results for the Red Sox, losers in six of their last seven games. Hopefully, Jon Lester can help turn things around for the Sox on Wednesday against Kansas City, but it would be even better if the Sox could make some history of their own on top of that. NESN...
