Prior to Sunday's game at Miller Park, Milwaukee's Ryan Braun will almost certainly be selected to his fifth All-Star game.
While Braun being named to the Midsummer Classic has come to be expected over the years, so has scheduled starter Yovani Gallardo's dominance of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Gallardo looks to earn his seventh victory in as many regular-season starts against the Diamondbacks when he takes the ball for the finale of a three-game series.
Braun has put aside any possible distractions stemming from his overturned 50-game drug suspension in the offseason, and is batting .313 with an NL-best 22 homers and 55 RBIs.
"It's been good so far," said the reigning NL MVP after hitting two home runs in Saturday's 10-2 win over Arizona. "The one thing that challenges me is plate discipline and sometimes I've been swinging out of the strike zone. But overall, I am happy with where I am at."
