Found August 30, 2012 on Rockies Review:
Drew Pomeranz has shown flashes of brilliance. It was ugly. It was a reminder of everything that is wrong with the Colorado Rockies. Then suddenly it looked like the Rockies would overcome everything that was so ugly.Dreams of a sweep ended quickly when the Dodgers put up six runs in the 3rd inning. However, the Rockies mounted an impressive comeback, plating seven runs in the 8th inning only to fall short, losing 10-8 on a hot afternoon at Coors Field. The early part of the game was exactly what has hurt the Rockies in 2012. Starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz was great in the first two innings, requiring just 24 pitches to get through the first two frames. As good as the first two innings were, the third was equally as bad. Six Dodger runs came across in the inning and the Rockies were dead in the water.Pomeranz, the crown jewel in the Ubaldo Jimenez trade, has shown flashes of the ace that is somewhere within him. In between flashes of brilliance, however, the lefty has struggled mighti...

The Rockies are keeping their four man rotation

This is apparently real life: the Rockies are going to go into the 2013 season with their four man starting rotation intact. That's right: a largely experimental procedure that has been roundly mocked around the league is going to continue next season. The way the Rockies will apparently handle things consists of them having their four man rotation, and four "...

Colorado Rockies showing late season push

Denver, CO. The Colorado Rockies are showing some of the talent fans expected before the start of the 2012 season. Although hampered by injuries for most of the season, the Rockies have some youth that is starting to show positive glimpses into the future. The L.A. Dodgers shiny new pitcher Josh Beckett got a glimpse of this talent last night against the Rockies. On only Beckett’s...

Rockies to repeat 4 man rotation in 2013

Denver, CO. Word has come down from the Colorado Rockies that they will continue to utilize the four man piggyback pitching rotation in 2013. Fans in Denver may moan when they hear this, but based on the current success with the rotation the idea has some legs. Many may find it actually a bad thing that the Rockies are having success as the season draws to a close, but as fans we...

Josh Rutledge Took A Big Step

I love finding players on the waiver wire and watching their ownership percentage grow. It’s one of the best parts about fantasy sports for me. To see a guy go from .05% owned when you pick him up to 100% is a feeling comparable to when my dog sat for the first time on command. My favorites are the players who don’t even have bio pictures when you first pick them up. Michael...

Four-Man Rotation: A Rockies Revolution

In June, the Colorado Rockies decided to take an unconventional approach to improving their 25-40 record: A modified four-man rotation that outlined new expectations for starters and bullpen arms alike. With nothing to lose except more games, the experiment, which was thought to be a short-term solution to mitigate poor performance and injuries, has general manager Dan O’Dowd...

Padres-Rockies Preview

It's almost certainly too late for the San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies to make the postseason, but neither team is playing like they believe that. The Padres and Rockies, the bottom two teams in the NL West, open a three-game series at Coors Field on Friday night in a matchup of surging clubs. San Diego (61-71) won for the ninth time in 10 games Wednesday, 8-2 over wild...
