San Francisco Giants closer Sergio Romo and Three Twins Ice Cream have agreed to a contract to bring "Sergio Romo's Mexican Chocolate" to the world. The ice cream's tagline is "It Only Tastes Illegal" and all proceeds will go to help enact immigration reform. The company's founder Neal Gottlieb said he got the inspiration for the tasty treat after seeing Romo wear a shirt with the message "I Just Look Illegal" at last year's Giants World Series parade.Romo, a first-generation Mexican-American, grew up in a California town near the Mexican border and has been a vocal advocate for getting undocumented youth and their families a chance to earn their citizenship in America. In fact, Romo recently appeared in a video for The Dream is Now campaign whose mission is to rally concerned citizens to do something about America's broken immigration system.Gottlieb said the company has received some negative comments regarding the tagline and purpose on its Facebook page. One commenter even quipped "Maybe you need to focus on the ice cream and keep the political opinions at bay, lest you lose customers that believe our country and its issues trump your ice cream flavors?"Sergio Romo's Mexican Chocolate Ice Cream, which contains cocoa and cinnamon powder, is scheduled to hit shelves around September, which is precisely the same time Romo plans to be in the midst of a pennant race, as well.Via SportsGrid
