Fox Sports Arizona:
Though the Arizona Diamondbacks have thrived in games decided in extra innings, they've also failed to preserve a lead for Patrick Corbin in two of those contests.
Looking to build on their latest extra-inning victory, the D-backs hope to do a better job behind Corbin in Sunday's series finale against the visiting Colorado Rockies.
Cody Ross delivered a sacrifice fly in the 10th to help Arizona (14-10) improve to 6-0 in extra-inning games with a 3-2 win over Colorado on Saturday. The Diamondbacks have won four of five, with the last three victories coming by 3-2 margins.
The D-backs needed extras to win the last two starts by Corbin (2-0, 1.71 ERA), who has given up just five runs and struck out 20 in 26 13 innings this season.
The left-hander allowed a run in seven innings and left with a one-run lead that the bullpen blew in the ninth of a 6-2, 12-inning win at Yankee Stadium on April 18. On Tuesday in San Francisco, he yielded two runs in 7 13 inning, but his teammates could not hold a two-run cushion before the Diamondbacks won 6-4 in 11.
"It's a shame Patrick didn't get that win," manager Kirk Gibson told the team's official website. "We've got to clean that up."
Ross had two RBIs on Saturday and A.J. Pollock added three hits, including his third homer, as the D-backs won despite giving up an early 2-0 lead. Pollock went 0 for 8 in the first two games of the set but is batting .348 (8 for 23) against the Rockies this season.
Wilin Rosario homered for one of his three hits and Troy Tulowitzki added two with an RBI for Colorado (15-9), which has dropped five of seven since winning eight straight. The Rockies went 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position and failed to take advantage of seven walks from Wade Miley.
"You miss that many opportunities, it's going to come back to haunt you," manager Walt Weiss said.
Tulowitzki is batting .400 (12 for 30) with 12 RBIs during a nine-game hitting streak against the Diamondbacks.
Colorado's Jon Garland (2-1, 4.68) takes the mound looking to bounce back after he allowed six runs, three homers and four walks in six innings of a 10-2 loss to Atlanta in the finale of a doubleheader Tuesday.
"I've maintained this whole time, if you don't make pitches, you're going to get hit," the right-hander told the Rockies' official website. "A lot of those pitches were up, didn't move. I was walking guys, putting guys on in front of hits. It was just a bad night overall."
Garland, who spent part of 2009 in Arizona, is 3-3 with a 4.60 ERA in eight starts against the Diamondbacks. He has not faced them since 2010.
The veteran won't have to face D-backs shortstop Didi Gregorius, who will miss a second straight game after he was hit in the head by a pitch in Friday's 6-3 loss. The rookie, who began the season on the disabled list with an elbow injury, is batting .407 (11 for 27) in seven games this year.

PHOENIX -- Arizona fans were given a special treat Saturday when a Wade Miley garden gnome was distributed to those in attendance at for the Diamondbacks' game against the Rockies at Chase Field.
For an inning, Miley must have felt the strike zone was about the size of the six-inch figurine, which showed Miley with camo overalls and a fishing pole in his right hand.
PHOENIX -- Didi Gregorius was sore and had a tinge of a headache Saturday but otherwise appeared to have come out unscathed from his scary beaning Friday night. At the same time, he has not been cleared to play and was to see the Diamondbacks doctor again Saturday afternoon.

PHOENIX -- The Diamondbacks took another hit Friday night, and this one was particularly gruesome.

The Arizona Diamondbacks activated outfielder Jason Kubel from the 15-day disabled list. Instead of playing a few rehab games in the minors, the Diamondbacks thought it would be best to get his bat into the lineup sooner-rather-than-later. Finding more power as he ages gracefully in baseball terms, Kubel had 30 home runs in 2012.

As we wrote yesterday, there was still a chance Didi Gregorius would land on the seven-day DL despite his CT scan coming back clean. That's exactly what happened yesterday. However, while losing Gregorius, the Diamondbacks got Jason Kubel back. He was activated from the 15-day DL yesterday.
According to the Diamondbacks' official Twitter feed, Gregorius was placed...

Over the 2011 and ’12 seasons with the Chicago Cubs, speedy outfielder Tony Campana stole 54 bases in 59 attempts. That may not seem like a lot, but considering that he only reached base 106 times through those two years, the ratio is crazy. In other words, he stole a bag 51% of the time he got on base.
Campana is now in the Diamondbacks system with Triple-A Reno...
