Roger Clemens has done just about everything in life. He has won seven Cy Young awards, defeated the federal government and has now pitched eight scoreless innings for the independent league Sugar Land Skeeters. Now, the fifty year-old Clemens, has considered attempting a return to the MLB. “Well, not this year, but we’ll see what happens after that. I’m not going to rule anything out. I hope to end up probably in February with the Astros, put on a uniform and help those kids. That’s probably next.” (Quotes obtained from article by Fran Blinebury of The New York Post) Clemens isn't what he once was, as hit was topping out at 87 MPH last night, but he could definitely help in the marketing aspect and fan draw for the Astros. Clemens last pitched in the majors five years ago with the New York Yankees where he went 6-6 with a 4.18 ERA while striking out 6.2 k/9, his lowest in his career. Clemens retired after 24 Major League seasons where he went 354-184 with a 3.12 ERA in 4916.2 innings with the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Yankees and Astros. He's also the pitcher with the most Cy Young hardware with seven. Image taken by and used under the Creative Common License Agreement.
