Baseball Musings:
With one out in the top of the ninth, Nelson Cruz walks to put the go-ahead run on for Texas. David Murphy comes to the plate, three for three on the night.
Update: Joaquin Benoit gets ahead of Murphy 1-2. He swing and misses at the next pitch for the second out of the inning.
Update: Nelson Cruz gets caught stealing to end the inning. He started running before Benoit went into his motion. A very bad play. The Tigers come up in the bottom of the ninth needing one run for the win and a tie series.

In 1998 the New York Mets signed an 18 year-old, Nelson Cruz, out of the Dominican Republic. However, the Mets then traded Cruz in 2000 to the Oakland Athletics for Jorge Velandia.
Just another scenario to show off the great moves our franchise has made!

Nelson Cruz Hits First Walk-Off Grand Slam in MLB Playoff History
When Nelson Cruz hit a walk-off grand slam to beat the Tigers in Game 2 of the ALCS Monday, a friend said to me “there can’t be too many of those in history.” He was right. Cruz’s walk-off grand salami was the first in MLB playoff history (or technically the second). The 31-year-old right fielder [...]

Nelson Cruz on His Way to ALCS MVP
Is any player enjoying more of a breakout in the MLB playoffs than Nelson Cruz? More Verlander Pitches
Coming out to chants of MVP, Justin Verlander strikes out Adrian Beltre to start the eighth, but gives up a single to Nike Napoli. He’s still hitting 99 on the radar gun.
Nelson Cruz catches up to a pitch, however, and hits a high home run just over the fence and just inside the foul pole down the leftfield line. Verlander leaves to the crowd chanting, “MVP, MVP,...
Tigers Come to Life
After escaping a bases loaded jam in the top of the sixth, the bottom of the inning belongs to the Tigers offense. The first four batters hit for the cycle in order, as Ryan Raburn singles, Miguel Cabrera doubles him home for a 3-2 Tigers lead, Victor Martinez triples(!) Cabrera home, then Delmon Young hits his second home run of the game, and Detroit leads Texas 6-2. I really...
Drew Sharp: Lacking healthy bats, series seems over for Tigers
Fighting the tough battle doesn't make losing it any easier. Down to their last playoff breath, the Tigers need a miracle -- either the sudden recovery of their injured offensive stars or the sudden demotion of one-man destruction crew Nelson Cruz.
