Weekend practice game roundup
Geovany Soto homered, doubled, and walked in Saturday's game, so it looks like he's feeling better from his groin injury. Steve Clevenger, Adrian Cardenas, and Joe Mather also homered this weekend. Tony Campana broke his hitless streak with a hit or two but is probably out of a spot on the roster at this point.
On the pitching side, both Jeff...
Since Jeff Samardzija is now a "near-lock" to make the rotation, per Dale Sveum. Let's take a look at his projections for 2012. Just about everyone projected him as a reliever, though a few of them had him making 1-3 starts. It's enough that I'm not going to worry about trying to split all of those numbers out. Here's his projection as a reliever and roughly...
YOU MAKE THE CALL
C.J. Wilson decided to play a prank on former teammate Mike Napoli, so he tweeted Napoli's phone number to more than 100,000 Twitter followers.
Travis Wood sucks. He started the day with a 20.50 ERA. He was spotted a 7-0 lead before he took the mound. He left after allowing the game to be tied by the 3rd inning. His ERA now stands at 25.07.
Don't talk to me about small sample sizes. He blows.
According to a recent article from the Dallas Morning News, Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish, who was signed by the Rangers in January after starting his career in Japan, may be throwing illegal pitches.

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A split-squad game meant Julio Borbon got a chance to prove what he can do.
Borbon batted second for the Texas Rangers on Saturday while Elvis Andrus was moved up to leadoff. With regular leadoff hitter Ian Kinsler with the other half of the Rangers in Surprise, Ariz., Borbon was able to thrive at the top of the order between Andrus and Josh Hamilton during a 12...
The budding rivalry between the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels took an odd twist Sunday.
Former Rangers ace C.J. Wilson took to Twitter and sent out an old phone number of current Texas catcher Mike Napoli. Later he apologized to Napoli on Twitter and said the he did the prank because Napoli said he couldn't wait to hit a homer off Wilson.
Smart move by Wilson? Wilson...
Through two spring training starts, right-hander Yu Darvish has flashed excellent stuff with a couple of mixed results. TheSportsXChange reports that Darvish is still learning how to use his stuff against major league hitters.
Texas Rangers catcher Mike Napoli can't quite figure out why Los Angeles Angels pitcher and former teammate C.J. Wilson felt the need to send his phone number out on Twitter.
Wilson sent a tweet acting as if he was giving his former teammate his number, but instead posted an old phone number of Napoli's. Wilson then deleted the tweet and called it a prank.
Ladies, it’s your lucky day if you’ve ever had dreams of marrying the man of your dreams at home plate at Rangers Ballpark. Not satisfied with a reception inside the ballpark? Not satisfied with the standard fan tour where you get to visit the lockerroom and sniff the same air as Josh Hamilton? The Texas Rangers have the ultimate fan experience. How cool would it be to sit behind...
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- All eyes have been on Yu Darvish since he first set foot on a mound this spring. Since his first start, he's had his share of ups and downs, but for the most part he's been as advertised. However, as talented as Darvish may be, there are some aspects of his game that may trip him up in his first big league season.
Seth Smith had a two-run double among his three hits, and the Oakland Athletics scored three unearned runs off Paul Maholm in the first inning and beat the Chicago Cubs 4-3 in a game between split squads Saturday.
Cubs catcher Geovany Soto, playing in just his fifth game of the spring, homered on the first pitch of the fourth inning, and former Oakland outfielder David DeJesus tripled...
Dan Vogelbach and Dustin Geiger slugged back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the 8th inning, and the Chiefs had the tying and winning runs in scoring position with no outs in the bottom of the 9th but could not score, as the South Bend Silver Hawks (Diamondbacks Full-Season Class-A affiliate) rode a two-run Jimmy Comerate triple and took advantage of four errors, holding-on to...
