Your browser does not support iframes. Move over, Caleb Lloyd. You may just have some new competition. After going nearly my whole life without seeing someone snag two homers in a single game, I've now seen it done twice thanks to this Cubs fan in the video above. The lucky guy was on the receiving end of a home run hit by San Diego's Carlos Quentin as well as Darwin Barney's walk-off blast to cap off an impressive day at the yard. And although the feat should be seen as nothing less than spectacular, I still got to believe catching two in the same inning (on back-to-back hitters) is still more impressive.

Attention Cubs Management: Please do NOT sign Ryan Dempster to an extension.

OK, so its been a pretty slow year as far as Cubs news goes.  The Cubs are in last place and Carlos Zambrano is not around to blow up after another one of his bad outings. However, I recently came this gem of an article that made me cringe.  Apparently, Cubs President Theo Epstein is open to signing Ryan Dempster to an extension.  First let me say that Dempster has been tremendous...

Chicago Cubs 50-game report card

The Cubs are 18-32 at the end of May.  30% of their season completed and they currently are tied with Minnesota for the second worst record in baseball.  In May they suffered through a 12 game losing streak that exposed all the warts on the team.  The losing streak was comprised of poor hitting, pitching, bullpen, fielding, base running, coaching and a bad call or two peppered...

3 Reasons the Chicago Cubs Should Trade Starlin Castro

I’ve been saying for weeks on Twitter that the Chicago Cubs, who will be one of only a handful of MLB teams selling over the next couple of months, should trade Starlin Castro, their young shortstop who has been labeled the franchise player for the time being. But when I look at Castro, I see a great piece for a team rather than the guy that an organization should build around...

A's Rally Dooms Cubs at Fitch Park

Neftali Rosario lined an RBI double into the LF corner and Trey Martin clubbed a two-run double off the CF fence to highlight a four-run Cubs 2nd, but the Athletics rallied to score two in the 6th, two in the 7th, and three in the 8th en route to an 8-6 victory over the Cubs in Cactus League Extended Spring Training action this morning at Fitch Park Field #3 in Mesa, AZ. The defensive...

Cubs slip from last place The Cubs sweep of the Padres puts them one game behind in the race for the #1 pick. The Cubs are tied with the Twins for the second pick. Buried in this Hobbitton Times article about the sweep was a nugget about Ryan Dempster putting a hole in the wall [...]

Steve Clevenger- .500 Hitter

Do you know who Steve Clevenger is?  Well, he's the backup catcher for the Chicago Cubs who is currently batting .500 for the season (13-26).  The 26 year old was drafted in the 7th round in 2006 and has hit for average at every stop along his minor league journey (.309/.795 in 7 minor league seasons).  He made his debut with the Cubbies last year, appearing in 2 games....

The Cubs are #Winning

Fresh off a 3-game sweep of the Pacific Coast League Padres, the Cubs head out to San Francisco to start a weekend series with the Giants, and all anyone wants to talk about is the impending trade of the best position player on the Cubs. Before Cubom debates the merits of one Starlin Castro, I would be shocked if he were traded, and I think many feel the same way I do. However,...

Cubs preparing for a garage sale- everything most go!!

The Chicago Cubs are obviously not contenders this season and according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, they are letting everybody know that every player, except for Jeff Samardzija is available. “We're starting to get some early calls now,” Theo Epstein (Cubs' president of baseball operations) said. “There might be fewer sellers than usual and a lot more buyers. This...

Inside Pitch: Cubs

The Sports Xchange offers detailed notes and quotes on the Chicago Cubs.

Yanks Targeting Matt Garza

From Jon Heyman:If the Yankees decide they need a starter at the trade deadline, and it's loooking more likely they might, the pitcher that interests them most is Matt Garza of the Cubs. The Red Sox also could have interest in Garza, which could result in another showdown between baseball's biggest rivals. That would also represent a big benefit to the Cubs. Yankees...

Diamondbacks & Cubs Split, Man

RHP James Pugliese threw four innings of two-hit shutout ball with five strikeouts and Marco Hernandez and Wilson Contreras collected consecutive two-out RBI singles to cap a three-run 5th, leading one squad of Cubs to a 4-1 victory over one squad of Diamondbacks on Field #3, and Yosbel Gutierrez laced an inside-the-park two-run home run to spark the other squad of D’backs to a...

Fan at Padres-Cubs game catches two HRs

A fan sitting in the front row of the outfield seats at Wrigley Field caught two home run balls during Wednesday's Chicago Cubs game against the San Diego Padres, including the walk-off game winning home run by Cubs second baseman Darwin Barney.
