Found January 18, 2009 on Eli's MLB Rumors:
There was some confusion over pitching coach Larry Rothschild's comments at the Cubs Convention this weekend concerning Rich Harden: "His arm action's good; he's throwing free and easy," Rothschild said the day after seeing Harden throw, "He's not close to throwing off a mound yet. There's some issues there, no question." Harden reportedly has a tear in his joint, but it won't require surgery. However, the Cubs are going to have to be careful with Harden, who they hope can give them at least 25 starts. Harden said there is nothing wrong with his shoulder and that he will be ready for Spring Training, but you have to be a little worried. The Cubs have yet to add a number six starter, which could come in the form of Jon Garland, Randy Wolf, or Ben Sheets.?

  • It should be news when Rich Harden is healthy, not when he's hurt. That's to be expected.
  • Exactly!
