Pro Sports Daily:
The Chicago Cubs signed reliever Manny Corpas to a one-year contract on Thursday.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Corpas is attempting to return from Tommy John elbow surgery after sitting out last season. The righthander rehabbed with the Texas Rangers in 2011, but did not throw a single pitch for the American League club.
The 29-year-old Corpas posted a 3-5 mark with 10 saves and a 4.62 ERA for the Colorado Rockies in 2010.
In 2007, Corpas collected 19 saves - and added five more with a 0.87 in the postseason that year.

On Wednesday morning, the Chicago Cubs came to an agreement for a one-year deal with free agent OF Reed Johnson. The Cubs are no strangers with Johnson — three of the last four times Johnson has signed a contract, it had “Cubs” literally written all over it (counting this most recent transaction).
It may be surprising to the Cubs fan base, however, that one of the staples of...
Texas Rangers catcher Yorvit Torrealba was tossed from a Venezuelan League game after slapping an umpire in the mask while arguing at home plate.
Torrealba swung and missed on strike three then proceeded to argue with Dario Rivera Jr. over the previous call. He eventually lost his cool, smacking Rivera in the protective mask and forcing the umpire to toss him from the game.
Move aside, Roberto Alomar.

Texas Rangers catcher Yorvit Torrealba has always played the game of baseball with a lot of fire and a lot passion. Unfortunately, the 11 year big league veteran took that fire and passion too far while playing for Leones del Caracas of the Venezuelan League on Friday.

Well this probably isn't how the Rangers expected Yorvit Torrealba to spend his time in the Venezuelan winter league.
Torrealba took a beef over an earlier call by umpire Dario Rivero Jr. way, way too far earlier today. After striking out swinging, Torrealba turned around, started screaming at the Rivero before hitting the umpire square in the face. Video of the incident after...

Christmas is only 3 days away! Traditionally, many kids write letters to Santa every year. This year, instead of writing to Santa, I wrote to the Cubs’ front office.
