According to Bruce Levine of 670 The Score, the Chicago Cubs have placed right fielder Seiya Suzuki on the 10-day Injured List with a left ring finger sprain.

Suzuki, who has been out of the Cubs lineup since May 27, has hit a bit of a dry spell for the month of May. In his last 19 games, the righty has hit .209 with zero home runs, six RBI, and an OPS of .608. Let’s hope the injury is only minor and the slugger can get back to form when he returns from the IL.

With Suzuki headed to the IL, the Cubs recalled left-handed reliever Brandon Hughes and designated right-handed pitcher Robert Gsellman for assignment. In 7.0 innings with the Cubs, Hughes has pitched to the tune of a 2.57 ERA with nine strikeouts and a .714 WHIP.

The Cubs are currently in a four-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers, and then will host the St. Louis Cardinals in a five-game series beginning Thursday.
