TEAMS: Chicago Cubs, Colorado Rockies
The Chicago Cubs have agreed to terms with Outfielder Reed Johnson on a one year contract. Terms have not yet been disclosed. Johnson was a pleasant surprise for Cubs fans in 2011. The veteran outfielder has bounced around the majors but he settled in nicely for Chicago last season after Tyler Colvin struggled and Marlon Byrd battled injuries. Johnson went from part timer to valuable contributor in the process and ended up posting an impressive slash line of .309/.348/.467.
With the configuration of the Cubs 2012 outfield in question it is hard to predict Johnson’s role with the club. What we do know is that he’ll be on the club. Johnson and David DeJesus could forma nice platoon in right field for Chicago. There has been speculation that Alfonso Soriano and/or Marlon Byrd could be dealt prior to the start of the season. If either of them is dealt Johnson could end up with a prominent role in left or center field.

Could Recent Trades For Starting Pitchers Increase Chance Cubs Trade Matt Garza?
Let’s just face it. At this point, we really have no idea what the Cubs’ front office is doing. It’s been an air tight operation and the only news that has “leaked” has likely been because Theo Epstein has wanted it to leak.
As tough as it is to speculate with a front office like this, much of the chatter this winter has revolved around whether or not...

Chael Sonnen unimaginatively takes shot at Chicago Cubs
When touting UFC on Fox 2, Chael Sonnen took a shot at the Chicago Cubs, a team who plays 5.5 miles away from the United Center, where Sonnen will fight Mark Munoz. (He takes the shot at the very beginning of the video.)
What disappoints me about that is it's lack of imagination. Using the Cubs as a punching bag is for amateurs, and Sonnen is a highly regarded professional in...
