Found July 15, 2013 on MLB Injury News:
The Matt Garza trade winds are absolutely blowing. In a recent article I wrote on Garza, it said that Matt Garza likely would be traded over the all-star break. Recent reports from Cubs beat writers support that report from Buster Olney of ESPN. From John Arguello of Cubs Den: @Letsgocubs13 I think there's a pretty good chance a deal gets done within next few days. — John Arguello (@CubsDen) July 15, 2013 While John didn't site sources in this, this appears to be the consensus in the league, as many teams and their scouts expect Garza to get traded, maybe even before his next start. While Garza is expected to get traded, it appears that the Texas Rangers appear to be the favorites to land the 29-year-old, with a team potentially lying in the weeds. From Tom Loxas of Cubs Now: Matt Garza news: The name that keeps "popping up" in a potential Matt Garza to #Rangers is Mike Olt, per @TomLoxas. — Robert Murray (@RobertMurrayMLB) July 15, 2013 Loxas also "heard" that the #RedSox could "swoop in" and land Garza, but he ultimately believes he goes to the #Rangers. — Robert Murray (@RobertMurrayMLB) July 15, 2013 It isn't definite that the Rangers land Garza, but it appears they are the favorites to land his services. A report from John Arguello states that in a potential Garza to Texas deal, Mike Olt would not be the 'centerpiece' of the deal going to the Cubs. The Rangers would have more prospects that are just as good go to the Cubs in the deal. A name that has been reported to keep an eye on is Martin Perez, 21-year-old left-handed pitcher who has a 3-2 record with a 3.00 ERA and a 20/10 strikeout-to-walk ratio. It isn't known as of now if it would be Olt and Perez going to the Cubs, but in a potential deal, it appears likely that at least one of them goes to the Cubs, with Olt being the favorite. Then a recent report from David Kaplan stated he is 'hearing' that a deal for Garza will be completed by next Saturday. From Kaplan: I'm hearing Garza will be traded by Sat. Cubs won't move him though until they get what they want. They won't panic out of fear of injury. — David Kaplan (@thekapman) July 15, 2013 Here is what Kaplan tweeted after talking about a Garza deal with an AL Scout: An AL scout just told me that he thinks Garza is throwing so well that the Cubs are in a phenomenal spot to land a tremendous deal. — David Kaplan (@thekapman) July 15, 2013 While it isn't offically known what pieces would come back in a potential deal with the Rangers, Red Sox or any other teams, it does appear that once the Cubs trade Garza, the package they get in return will be significant. While no deal is close to being done, it does look like Matt Garza will not be in a Cubs uniform for much longer. Trade Values: Matt Garza

Earlier today we heard that the Pittsburgh Pirates are one of the teams strongly pursuing Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Matt Garza. Garza has been linked to the Pirates a few times in the last week. I would be shocked if the Pirates end up trading for him, but I will take a look at his trade value to see what he would cost (or should cost), and to analyze why I don’t think the...

Status Of Buchholz Will Impact Matt Garza Deal

Getty ImagesMultiple reports suggest that whether the Red Sox make a deal to get Matt Garza is highly dependent on how they see the immediate future of Clay Buchholz. If their ace right-hander continues to struggle with a bizarre neck/shoulder injury (he hasn't pitched since June 8th), then they will hotly pursue their former AL East pitching rival. Garza has been told in no...

All-Star Break Rumor Thread

Not that there will be too many over the break, most of the league takes a vacation along with the players, but Kaplan is spinning his wheels on a Matt Garza one. I'm hearing Garza will be traded by Sat. Cubs won't move him though until they get what they want. They won't panic out of fear of injury. An AL scout just told me that he thinks Garza is throwing so well that...

Ideal landing spots for top MLB trade deadline targets

The trade deadline is fast approaching and thus far there has been very little activity on the trade market. That isn't due to a lack of options though as there are a number of quality players who seem quite likely to get moved between now and July 31st. The question isn't so much if those players will get dealt but when and where. Alas, the trade market is an imperfect market...

Ranaudo (L) & Cecchini (R)Reports are surfacing that Theo Epstein will demand both Anthony Ranaudo and Garin Cecchini in a trade for Matt Garza.
