Found March 29, 2012 on Larry Brown Sports:
If the Red Sox don’t come out of the gate on fire this season, things could go south in a hurry. Although it is the Boston media’s job to make a mountain out of a molehill — especially in March — the general consensus surrounding the team seems to be that the Bobby Valentine era has not kicked off smoothly. During an interview with WEEI earlier this week, Curt Schilling claimed things are already not going well for Valentine and the Sox. “I thought that the manager that managed the Mets that I was not a big fan of was now going to be a different manager, and I don’t think there’s anything different at all,” Schilling said as masslive.com pointed out. “And I don’t think that that is going to be conducive to doing well here. There’s a lot of things I think that are happening not just from his perspective, but when you talk to these guys — and I’m still talking to some of these guys — I don’t think this is going well. And I think it’s going bad quicker than I expected it to.”

Bobby Valentine has some unflattering things to say about the Red Sox

When the Boston Red Sox hired Bobby Valentine to be their manager they envisioned that he would lead them back to World Series glory and overtake the New York Yankees. There would be no epic collapses like last year. Good times would be back in Beantown. The way Valentine talks though is as if the Red Sox are headed for a last place finish. "I have great expectations with...

Schilling: Valentine, players not meshing

Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling has voiced serious concerns about the team's new manager Bobby Valentine, saying he is already falling out of favor with the players. Speaking on radio station WEEI, Schilling said he had spoken to a number of players who were unhappy about Valentine's approach. "I thought that the manager that managed the Mets that I was not a...

ESPN's Curt Schilling blasts Bobby Valentine

During a Tuesday interview on the Boston-area Mut & Merloni show, former Red Sox pitcher (and current ESPN analyst) Curt Schilling blasted Bobby Valentine, saying (among other things), "I don't think this is going well. And I think it's going bad quicker than I expected it to," referring to Valentine's brief tenure thus far as Red Sox manager. I know...

Curt Schilling, John I. Taylor, Joe Mooney Headline 2012 Red Sox Hall of Fame Selections

Major League Baseball's 2004 postseason will forever be remembered in Boston as that time some guy irreparably ruined a perfectly good sock, and also as that time the Red Sox won their first championship in 86 years. Eight years after those fateful playoffs, the Red Sox are now honoring that very same sock-destroying starting pitcher. Curt Schilling headlines a group of seven...

Beckett on Schilling: “is he one of our pitchers?”

Yesterday afternoon, Curt Schilling, the former Boston Red Sox pitcher who helped the organization to win two World Series gave his ever so surprising opinion on WEEI’s Mut & Merloni show on how he believes things are going with new manager Bobby Valentine. He stated that he didn’t believe it was going well, and that Valentine pretty much wasn’t the right guy for the clubhouse...

Bobby Valentine Says Carl Crawford May Need Minor League Rehab Assignment to Get '50 At-Bats'

FORT MYERS, Fla. –– Bobby Valentine doesn’t like injury timetables. While he accidentally spewed out June 1 as a potential deadline for pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka, he declined to disclose a date for Carl Crawford. "The only thing I know about that is that you don't want to put the kid -- anybody rehabbing -- under the pressure of a deadline,” Valentine said. “It...

Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner Discusses Outlook, Expectations for 2012 Season (Video)

The Red Sox provoked a lot of discussion and questions throughout the offseason. But with Bobby Valentine at the helm and some new players on board spring training has seemed to turn the page on an otherwise frustrating 2011 season. Red Sox chairman Tom Werner joined the Dennis & Callahan show on Tuesday morning to discuss the current state of the team and his expectations for...

Josh Beckett rips Curt Schilling: The game’s a lot easier from over there

In a lot of ways, Josh Beckett became public enemy number one when the Red Sox went through their meltdown last season. Many believe he was the main force that pushed Terry Francona out the door, and it wouldn’t shock me if that was true. Beckett knows that, and he knows he will need to get along with Bobby Valentine this season in order for the Red Sox to be successful. That...

Mike Aviles Beats Out Jose Iglesias for Shortstop Job After Bobby Valentine's Spring Training Juggling Act

One of Bobby Valentine's biggest responsibilities this spring training was making sure that two shortstops -- Mike Aviles and Jose Iglesias -- got enough time each at short for the club to make a decision on who would be the starter. That decision came on Tuesday when the team announced that it was sending Iglesias to Triple-A, effectively making Aviles the Opening Day starter...

Red Sox Spring Training Delight - 3/30

Do you know who the final two spots are going to in the 2012 Boston Red Sox rotation? Yeah, I didn't think so. If Bobby Valentine knows, he sure isn't telling us. But with spring training winding down very quickly here, we should get the answer to that question sooner rather than later. Aaron Cook pitched well the other day, Daniel Bard pitches today and Felix Doubront...

Curt Schilling – Hypocrite? Shocking, I know.

We know we can always count on Curt Schilling to have an opinion. While every Red Sox fan is fond of Schilling for what he did on the field, many cringed even during his playing career at his affinity for the spotlight – or redlight – whichever you prefer. Today’s Globe sports media column from Chad Finn looks at Schilling in his media role with ESPN, and how he’s already...

Aviles Wins Red Sox Starting Shortstop Competition

IF there was a power struggle between Boston Red Sox GM Ben Cherington and skipper Bobby Valentine, then score this one for Cherington. One of the positions the Red Sox had a competition for during spring training was shortstop. The players involved were Mike Aviles, Jose Iglesias and Nick Punto. While Punto hasn't played shortstop this spring, the other two have gotten...

Beckett: Curt Who?

This story is being portrayed as Josh Beckett bashing Curt Schilling, and by implication defending Bobby Valentine, but frankly I don't see the bash or the defense. “I haven’t seen him around this year. Is he one of our pitchers?” Beckett said. “I haven’t seen him around,” Beckett continued. “I’d think if someone knew that much they’d probably be a little...
