Ortiz HR (FenwayNation Photo)Jarrod Saltalamacchia must have heard the rumors that the Red Sox were unhappy with this early season performance. The Boston catcher is now hitting a more than respectable .273 with 8 HRS after clouting two-round trippers on Sunday. Saltalamacchia hit a solo shot and a three-run blase as the Carmine Hose pounded Joe Blanton and the Angels, 10-5. Ryan Dempster was just good enough to win—going six innings and yielding three earned runs, while striking out six. David Ortiz smashed another three-run HR—his second in two days—to give Boston the lead for good. Once again, Dustin Pedroia and Jose Iglesias extended their hitting streaks—this time to 13 games. The Sox now go on the road for seven big games—three in Tampa, four in Baltimore.

Big Papi meets with FCC chairman and family

I’m sure you all remember this clip of David Ortiz proclaiming “this is our f**king city!” before the first game at Fenway following the Marathon bombings, but just in case you may not have seen the tweet from the FCC in response to the famous f-bomb: David Ortiz spoke from the heart at today’s Red Sox game. I stand with Big Papi and the people of Boston – Julius — The...

David Ortiz “Famous as F**K” t-shirt

David Ortiz really likes the F-word, we guess? Ortiz dropped a F-bomb in response to the Boston Marathon bombing and was sporting a t-shirt that read “Famous as F**K” after hitting a walk off home run on Thursday night against Texas. The t-shirt may not have been the best idea but considering Ortiz is hitting .325/.399/.624 with 11 home runs and 45 RBI there does not figure...

When Big Papi (that's David Ortiz for those that don't follow baseball but are till reading this) smacked a three run homer to lift the Boston Red Sox over the Texas Rangers Thursday night it was just another of the many moments that have defined the career of the Boston legend. But it was not just any 'Big Papi' moment. His teammates ripped off his jersey during...

Jarrod Saltalamacchia’s Big Game Should Direct Eyes Toward Productive Season Catcher Is Quietly Having

BOSTON — It’s easy to forget that Jarrod Saltalamacchia led the Red Sox in home runs last season. Then again, that forgetfulness sums up Salty’s presence within Boston’s potent lineup. David Ortiz Thought Red Sox Signing Josh Hamilton ‘Was Going to Happen,’ Especially After Trade With Dodgers

The Red Sox brought in a number of free agents during the offseason. Josh Hamilton wasn’t one of them. Hamilton, considered the biggest offensive free agent on the open market this past offseason, ended up signing with the Angels, but it wasn’t before tons of speculation about whether or not the 2010 American League MVP would land in Boston. Even David Ortiz thought there was...

David Ortiz Unsure If He Would Participate in Home Run Derby, While Mike Napoli ‘Wouldn’t Enjoy’ Being in Contest

Participating in the Home Run Derby is often a risky endeavor. It’s all about thrilling the fans, but there have been multiple instances of players struggling after taking part in the midsummer long ball contest. That’s one of the reasons Mike Napoli, who has launched a few mammoth home runs this season, is a bit skeptical of participating in the competition if he is eventually...
