The Diamondbacks on Tuesday called up outfielder Adam Eaton from Triple-A Reno and transferred catcher Henry Blanco to the 60-day disabled list.
Eaton, 23, was named the Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year for Reno, which he joined after playing the first 11 games of 2012 for Double-A Mobile. In 119 games at Reno, he's hitting .381 with a .456 on-base percentage, 46 doubles, five triples, seven home runs and 38 stolen bases. He's scored 119 runs and driven in 45.
Eaton is the second player in PCL history to win both MVP and Rookie of the Year honors, joining Salt Lake's Rob Quinlan (2002). He leads all minor-league players in batting average, hits, runs and doubles and is second in on-base percentage.
