Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Adam Eaton will be out for up to two months with a left elbow sprain.
Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers said on Friday that Eaton had an MRI that revealed a small tear in the fibers around the ulnar collateral ligament. Eaton had been bothered by a sore elbow for a couple of weeks and the Diamondbacks had recently given him a couple days off.
Towers said Eaton, expected to be Arizona's starting center fielder and leadoff hitter, will be shut down for four weeks and the best-case scenario for his return would be in six weeks, but could be as long as two months.
Eaton played 22 games for the Diamondbacks last season before he was hit by a pitch and broke his right hand.

Wade Miley was such a surprise last year for the Arizona Diamondbacks that the surprise factor might have cost him the Rookie of the Year Award nod in a very close race with Harper. Nobody expected that Wade Miley would be the tenth most valuable pitcher in baseball in 2012. And his 1.79 walks per nine innings and 3.13 FIP were so fabulous that it had everyone scratching their...

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- When the 2012 season ended, infielder Eric Chavez knew it was time for his stint with the Yankees to do the same. There were multiple reasons, but chiefly, he wanted to get closer to his home in Scottsdale.

When scouting, the first instinct is to comp. You fight the urge, knowing every player is an individual, but the desire to quantify the unknown inevitably creeps into your thoughts. Who has a similar body type? A similar swing? Approach? Range and athleticism? Background? Instinctively, you formulate a first impression by answering one question: Who does he remind me of?
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Adam Eaton will miss 6-8 weeks of action with a sprained elbow. It is a tough break for those fantasy owners viewing Eaton as a nice sleeper candidate in the middle of drafts and he had been steadily climbing in mock drafts the last few weeks. The winner in the Diamondbacks outfield is Gerrardo Parra who figures to see 125-150 more at bats than what...
