Owings, Padres agree to $1M deal for 2012
Right-hander Micah Owings and the San Diego Padres have agreed to a $1 million, one-year contract.
General manager Josh Byrnes says Owings is a ''proven contributor'' as a starter and a reliever. The deal was announced Thursday.
Owings was 8-0 with a career-best 3.57 ERA in 33 games, including four starts, for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2011. The Diamondbacks didn...
Owings Seeks Asylum In Petco
Micah Owings has been an interesting character over the years, garnering plenty of attention for his bat — .349 wOBA with nine homers in 217 career plate appearances — while leaving much to be deserved when on the mound. The two-way right-hander is closing in on 500 career innings (479.1 to be exact) with a 4.91 ERA to go along with his 4.95 FIP and 4.93 xFIP, so there...

Padres add Micah Owings
The San Diego Padres have signed right-handed pitcher/hitter Micah Owings to a one-year, $1 million deal. Dan Hayes explains the specifics:
Owings — 8-0 with a 3.57 ERA in 33 games (four starts) for the Arizona Diamondbacks last season — signed a split contract with the Padres, according to a team source, which means he could begin the 2012 season in the minors.

Padres talking with reliever Owings (AP)
General manager Josh Byrnes says the Padres are talking with reliever Micah Owings. Byrnes declined further comment. It is not clear whether the sides have agreed to a deal. The NL West champion Arizona Diamondbacks declined to tender Owings a contract after last season. Owings made his major league debut with Arizona in 2007, when Byrnes was GM of the Diamondbacks.
