An ailing left ankle hasn't appeared to give Atlanta Braves starter Tim Hudson too many problems this month. Matchups with the Arizona Diamondbacks have also usually proved not so troublesome. The veteran right-hander, though, could have some difficulty extending his dominance over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday night when he faces a hot-hitting club seeking to match its longest win streak of the season. Hudson has been dealing with bone spurs in his ankle and had a procedure to remove some in the offseason. He's trying to hold off another surgery postseason by playing through the discomfort. The 36-year-old Hudson already missed most of April while recovering from back surgery. "Because (my ankle) is a weight-bearing joint, it would be a two-month (recovery)," Hudson told the team's website. "It's not a big deal. It's just another offseason surgery. I've got to get my 200-inning oil change every year." Despite his sore ankle, Hudson (5-...

D-backs head to Atlanta looking to stay hot

An ailing left ankle doesn't seem to have given Braves starter Tim Hudson too many problems this month. Matchups with the Diamondbacks haven't usually proved troublesome, either. The veteran right-hander, though, could have some difficulty extending his dominance over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday night when he faces a hot-hitting club seeking to match its longest win streak...

Diamondbacks' Hudson pulled with apparent injury

Diamondbacks right-hander Daniel Hudson has left his start against the Atlanta Braves with an apparent injury. Hudson, who was on the disabled list from April 21 to May 27 with a right shoulder impingement, was removed in the second inning Tuesday night. He gave up five runs and seven hits in 1 2-3 innings. After giving up five hits and three runs in the second, Hudson motioned...

Daniel Hudson Leaves With Forearm Injury

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Daniel Hudson left tonight’s game in the second inning with forearm tightness. Hudson allowed five runs on seven hits in just one and two-thirds innings before leaving the game with the injury. Josh Collementer relieved Hudson with a 1-0 count to Braves catcher Brian McCann. Hudson told reporters after the game that he has been dealing with...

Arizona's Hudson appears headed for Tommy John surgery

Daniel Hudson and the Arizona Diamondbacks received some bad news Wednesday when an MRI showed Hudson has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, an injury that almost always leads to Tommy John surgery. "That's never good news," D-backs manager Kirk Gibson said before a 6-4 loss at Atlanta. Hudson was scheduled to get a second opinion, but he is expected...

ATLANTA (AP) -- Tim Hudson answered manager Fredi Gonzalez's call for improved starts from Atlanta's rotation and the Braves opened their longest homestand of the season by beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-1 on Tuesday night. Hudson (6-3) allowed one run and seven hits in eight innings. He had seven strikeouts. Freddie Freeman had three hits and drove in two runs, Chipper...

Hudson returns to DL; Corbin recalled

Starting pitcher Daniel Hudson is back on the disabled list for the Diamondbacks, with left-hander Patrick Corbin recalled from Triple-A Reno to fill his roster spot. The Diamondbacks made the move prior to Wednesday's game in Atlanta and also activated shortstop Stephen Drew from the disabled list while optioning relief pitcher Jonathan Albaladejo to Reno. Hudson, 25, was...

Arizona's Drew returning, but Hudson could be out long term

Tuesday was a day of changes for the Arizona Diamondbacks -- two expected and one forced. Shortstop Stephen Drew met the D-backs in Atlanta after finishing a 20-day rehab assignment and will be activated Wednesday, when he will start against Atlanta right-hander Tommy Hansen, manager Kirk Gibson said. Drew has not appeared in a major league game since July 20, 2011, the day he...

Damn Y’all Hudson!

In a Hudson vs. Hudson battle, Tim won on a technicality as Daniel Hudson left the game with what seemed to be a forearm injury.  To add insult to injury, he left the game after giving up 5 ER on 7 hits in 1 2/3 IP.  With a ghastly 7.35 ERA in 45 IP this year, injury or not, it’s time to cut Daniel Hudson from mixed leagues.  He looked primed to build upon a solid 2011 but so...

The 2012 Minor League Report – Week 13

The Arizona Diamondbacks lost another starting pitcher in their rotation with Daniel Hudson done for the season and facing Tommy John surgery. For now the team is moving Josh Collmenter into the rotation but that could just be short-term coverage until the All-Star break. I would look at grabbing Tyler Skaggs as a play for the second half of the season. Skaggs has a 2.84 ERA at...
