The D-backs are considering the pitcher, to play first base from time to time when he's not on the mound. "Micah Owings' bat could get a little more play next season, and we're not just talking about pinch-hitting appearances. Owings, who last season made 27 starts out of the Diamondbacks' rotation and posted a 4.30 ERA, could find his way onto the field, perhaps at first base. "It's potentially, depending on how our roster looks, an option," manager Bob Melvin said Tuesday during a Q&A session with reporters."

  • man this guy can do it all. im all for it
  • D-Train! Great to have you in the YardBARK! You're in the American League now...the White Sox have a great lineup, but you've got a nice bat. Would you like to play the field once in a while and get some AB's if the option was there?
  • he's is an insane hitter, but Dontrelle, you are a damn good hitter as well.
  • sorry about my crappy grammar. :(
  • Ha, I like it. I remember back when D was pitching in Cleveland and all the talk was if they were going to bother with a DH
  • man i dont know people think i can hit but this guy i think he can hit everyday
  • Not a bad pitcher either, Does Zona really need to do this? Conor Jackson not enough at first for them?
  • Zona needs to decide if this guy is worth more as a hitter than a pitcher. Right now I think it's great to have him available as a pinch hitter, but I think that learning to be a major league pitcher and learning to be a first baseman simultaneously is too much. D Train, sorry to see you off to Detroitbecause I wanted you for Arizona. But good luck next season anyway!
