Seventh overall pick in the 2011 draft for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Archie Bradley was dominant in his start for Double-A Mobile on May 13 in a 3-2 victory over Jacksonville. Bradley worked 6 innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits with 9 strikeouts, adding continued success to a blistering month of May. Bradley delivered another strong outing  leading Mobile to a 4-1 win over Pensacola in Southern league action. In his fourth Southern League start, Bradley  limited the Wahoos to one run on five hits and two walks in six innings. In 19 innings this season for the BayBears, Bradley has given up two runs on 12 hits and eight walks and struck, with an ERA of .90 Bradley, following a workhorse 2012 season with Low Class A South Bend where he posted a 12-6 record with a 152/84 strikeout to walk ration in 136.0 innings, has been a top pitching prospect since his professional debut with Rookie Class Missoula in 2011. Bradley boasts a mid-90s fastball with tremendous sink that allows him to generate groundball outs and a high strikeout rate. Aside from a plus heater, Bradley utilizes an off-speed arsenal that includes a changeup with good movement and late fade and a sharp curveball that is still developing. Bradley has the athletic build and stamina to be a workhorse and the tools to become a top of the rotation fixture, which is exactly what Arizona has been grooming him to become.

D-backs catcher, pitcher combine for circus catch

Your browser does not support iframes. Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero and pitcher Josh Collmenter combined for an impressive circus catch on a popup in the eighth inning of Sunday night's game at Marlin Park. Miami Marlins batter Adeiny Hechavarria tried to bunt the ball, but popped it up down the third base line. Montero chased it and failed to catch it, but...

Collmenter makes perhaps catch of the year

The 2-1 putout isn't a common one in baseball; most of the ones that do occur are on wild pitchespassed balls that result in the pitcher covering the plate. So how does a pitcher record a 2-1 putout on a ball that never touches the ground? Diamondbacks reliever Josh Collmenter did just that in Sunday's game against the Marlins -- with an assist (literally) from catcher Miguel...

Parra throws out runner, busts out finger wag

Diamondbacks right fielder Gerardo Parra is widely known to have one of the best arms in all of baseball. Over the past three seasons, while playing mostly in a part-time role in Arizona's crowded outfield, Parra has totaled nine, 12 and eight assists, with the middle number coming in 2011, when he earned his first Gold Glove. He also already has six assists this year, leading...

Breaking down the success of Gerardo Parra

Gerardo Parra is putting up All-Star numbers. Alright, I guess it’s finally time to admit it: I’ve been wrong all season about Gerardo Parra.

The Diamondbacks Show Positive Improvement In The Teamwork Category

Miguel Montero and Josh Collmenter are the poster children for teamwork in schools across the world following their team effort on Sunday. Check out Miguel who dove after a popup and juggled it up in the air setting up his teammate Collmenter for a nice alley-oop grab. Everything went according to plan. Going...Going...Gone! Arizona Diamondbacks Gerardo Parra Now Has Something in Common With Pete Rose

Arizona's 1-0 win over the Miami Marlins gave the Diamondbacks a record of 25-18 and a one game lead over the San Francisco Giants in the NL West. The one run came courtesy of a solo home run by Gerardo Parra in the first inning. What does that have to do with Pete Rose? Well, the home run--and only run--came on the first pitch of the game. The last time that happened...

Paul Goldschmidt Homers Twice to Lead Arizona to Victory

Paul Goldschmidt’s two home runs led the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 9-2 victory over the Miami Marlins on Friday night, the first game in a three-game series in Miami. The two-homer game is Goldschmidt’s second multi-home run game in his young career, the first occurring on May 18, 2012 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He would finish the game with a career high 4 hits and 4 RBI...

Hard Hittin’ Mark Whiten Memorial Player of the Week: Paul Goldschmidt

The next time the man known as “Bear Jew” has a week like this, I hope he’s not owned by the guy who is hot on my tail in fantasy baseball. There was no other player who could win the inaugural Hard Hittin’ Mark Whiten Memorial award. We won’t do an honorable mention today partly because we’re at work, and partly because Bear Jew really did that good of a job steamrolling...

Patrick Corbin Looks For His Seventh Win

The Arizona Diamondbacks have become known for their under-the-radar pitching staff these last few years. Whether it was Ian Kennedy’s break-out 2011 season, Wade Miley’s ROY-runner up 2012 season, or Patrick Corbin’s 6-0 start this season (hopefully that becomes 7-0 after tonight’s game). They don’t all have the skills of Justin Verlander, or the super-star status of players...

Series recap: Diamondbacks at Marlins

Friday night Diamondbacks 9, Marlins 2: Arizonas Paul Goldschmidt homered twice, had four RBI and tied his career high with four hits. Marlins starter Kevin Slowey allowed six runs and seven hits in three innings. Saturday night Diamondbacks 1, Marlins 0: The Marlins managed just three hits off Arizonas Brandon McCarthy, who earned his third career shutout. Gerardo Parra homered...

D-backs look to finish off sweep, win fifth straight

Facing an offensively challenged Miami team that's been particularly bad against left-handers lately, Wade Miley appears to be in a good spot to rebound from his worst outing of the season. Miley will try to keep the Marlins' bats quiet and lead the Diamondbacks to their fifth straight win in the finale of a three-game series at Marlins Park on Sunday. The D-backs (25-18...

Diamondbacks 1, Marlins 0

Brandon McCarthy pitched a three-hitter for his first win since being struck in the head by a line drive last season, helping the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Miami Marlins 1-0 on Saturday night. Gerardo Parra led off the game with a home run for Arizona, which has won four in a row while dealing the Marlins a season-long seven-game losing streak. McCarthy (1-3) struck out five...

Corbin three-hits Rockies as D-backs dominate

DENVER (AP) -- Patrick Corbin tossed a three-hitter for his first complete game and struck out a career-high 10, leading the Diamondbacks to a 5-1 win over the Rockies on Monday night. Corbin (7-0) joined Randy Johnson as the only lefties in team history to begin the season 7-0. He also turned in his club-record ninth straight start in which he's pitched at least six innings...

Brandon McCarthy Rebounds With Shutout of Marlins

Brandon McCarthy was dominant on Saturday, blanking the Miami Marlins for his first win not only with the Arizona Diamondbacks, but also since being struck in the head with an Erick Aybar line-drive on August 5, 2012 against the Los Angeles Angels. McCarthy registered his third career shutout (his first since September 3, 2011 against the Seattle Mariners) in a 1-0 victory over the...
