PHOENIX The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Monday that right-handed reliever Kam Mickolio has been sold to the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of Japans Nippon Professional Baseball League.
Mickolio, 27, was acquired from the Orioles last offseason along with reliever Daniel Hernandez in exchange for third baseman Mark Reynolds. He appeared in six games for the D-backs, posting a 6.75 ERA (five earned runs in 6 23 innings) and .357 batting average against with three walks and seven strikeouts.
In 48 games for the Triple-A Reno Aces, Mickolio went 3-4 with six saves, a 4.97 ERA and a .252 batting average against with 25 walks and 63 strikeouts.
Mickolio originally signed with the Seattle Mariners as their 18th-round selection in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.
